What’s my Senator boasting he’s been up to? Oh you know… 1. Stopping birth tourism (the borders are essentially closed). 2. Saving travel agencies (no, no it’s not 2005). 3. asking for foreign pharmaceutical recall data to be analyzed. (Fair enough, he signed a letter). Rick Scott folks. 🙄
Sen. Rick Scott Calls on Congress to Pass SAFE KIDS Act to Prevent Birth Tourism Schemes from Foreign Adversaries
U.S. Senator Rick Scott is calling on Congress to pass the SAFE KIDS Act, his bill to stop the exploitation of America's immigration laws by hostile foreign adversaries, including Communist China.
Senator Rick Scott said, "The case in St. Augustine is tragic, disturbing, and completely preventable. These poor children, through no fault of their own, are stuck in limbo over where their home will be — all because America's surrogate system is ripe for abuse and exploitation. My bill, the SAFE KIDS Act, prevents our enemies from abusing our hospitality and medicine to give them a foothold in our country. It would prevent the exact tragedy playing out in Florida right now."
"This problem will not go away if we do nothing. The fact that there are entire businesses in Florida that appear to be based around exploiting our immigration system more than speaks to that. We need to protect the most vulnerable among us from being trafficked and treated like commodities. / am gratetul that Chairman Gill and the task force are taking this seriously. America's enemies should not be able to scam their way to American citizenship. / encourage all my colleagues in the Senate to pass my bill immediately."

Sen. Rick Scott Urges DOT Sec. Duffy to Correct Loophole Hurting
Small Businesses
U.S. Senator Rick Scott sent a letter to U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy asking him to fix to a Biden-era policy that unfairly harms travel agents, including many small business owners in Florida.
Senator Rick Scott wrote, "Travel agencies and advisors operate on slim margins, and many simply cannot afford to front refunds to their customers, particularly for group bookings worth tens of thousands of dollars, before the airline has returned the money. These small businesses are being held financially accountable for a timeline they do not control, while the airline…Chairman Rick Scott, Ranking Member Kirsten Gillibrand Sound the Alarm on Foreign Drug Recalls, Request Investigation
U.S. Senator Rick Scott, Chairman of the Senate Special Committee on Aging, and Ranking Member Kirsten Gillibrand sent a letter to Acting Comptroller General Orice Brown requesting the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) analyze the connection between foreign drug manufacturing and drug recalls.
The senators wrote, "Over the past three decades, the United States has ceded an alarming share of its pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity to foreign nations.
Since 2000, this trend has accelerated significantly, with active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), key starting materials (KSMs), and finished dosage forms increasingly sourced from China and from countries where pharmaceutical manufacturing sectors are substantially dependent on APs or KSMs sourced from
China."

All. Of. This. DeSantis must never hold power again. The fact that this blacksite void of any real accountability was ever allowed let alone able to continue is something that should genuinely scare us all.
The extrajudicial nature of Alligator Alcatraz is so stark that Florida refused to sign federal legal agreements giving the Florida Division of Emergency Management, which administers Alligator Alcatraz, the authority to conduct immigration detention. These agreements, such as 287(G) or IGSA contracts, would clarify which entity has legal custody of people jailed at Alligator Alcatraz and inform legal processes for detainees. The lack of legal clarification resulted in the erosion of due process and civil rights for detainees who were held for months without the opportunity to meet with their lawyers, or even an immigration officer or judge. They were basically held incommunicado, preventing families or lawyers from locating them.

If Alligator Alcatraz is dismantled, the story doesn't end with its shuttering. Most of the people detained there will end up transferred to other detention centers, and their families will need assistance. The organizations Workers Circle and Sanctuary of the South, which have both advocated against Alligator Alcatraz since its opening, are launching a noble campaign to ensure that no human being held at Alligator Alcatraz is left without counsel. There is also close to a billion dollars in taxpayer funds that went to vendors through no-bid state contracts. When this detention camp closes, many people in the private sector will have walked away having made millions of dollars.

Giorgio Agamben describes the state of exception as "a space devoid of law, a zone of anomie in which all legal determination is deactivated". That's exactly what Governor DeSantis created in Alligator Alcatraz through the misuse of emergency powers, an extrajudicial black site in which torture and political grifting took place in a systematized manner, under his watch.

Hi, it's Emily with Fishback for Governor. James Fishback will be at Joey's Pizza in Moore Haven tomorrow (Saturday) at 6pm.

Ron DeSantis is term-limited and cannot run for Governor again, so James Fishback is running to be his Republican successor.

Fishback is currently polling in 2nd place and traveling to all 67 counties before the August 18 primary.

He'll be in Moore Haven tomorrow to take your questions and share his plan to fight for our constitutional rights, stand up for conservation, back law enforcement, block data centers, and make Florida more affordable.

James Fishback Visits Moore Haven
Saturday, May 30 at 6PM

Joey's Pizza

Pauken had at a Washington hotel with the individual he'd delivered the cell phone and laptop to last year. During that meeting, Pauken gave the person a SIM card and offered him a $10,000 bonus to work with Pauken's Chinese handler, providing "one report per week" that
"would influence policy and be read by Xi

Seriously Palm City (Martin County) FL? Toby Overdorf’s gotta go. He’s an “environmental consultant” that had staff reach out to help the polluters Mosaic avoid accountability. jasongarcia.substack.com/p/lobbyists-...
Mosaic has been trying to weaken the Water Quality Assurance Act for years.

For instance, in the spring of 2024, Florida’s Republican-controlled Legislature nearly passed a bill that would have dramatically reduced the legal exposure that polluters face under the law. The legislation ultimately failed to pass in part because of intense opposition from environmental groups and lobbyists for personal-injury lawyers.

That 2024 bill was pushed in public by business front groups like the Florida Chamber of Commerce and Associated Industries of Florida. But records show that Mosaic lobbyists were pushing it behind the scenes.

After the 2024 session ended, one of the lawmakers who had sponsored that bill — Rep. Toby Overdorf (R-Palm City) — expressed interest in refiling it for the 2025 session. Before he did, Overdorf had an aide to reach out to a Mosaic lobbyist to ask whether the lobbyist had any updates to the legislation.

The lobbyist responded by asking Overdorf not to refile the bill at all, according to emails obtained through public-records requests. Overdorf never did.

“Please hold back for the time being,” the Mosaic lobbyist wrote in a December 2024 email to Overdorf’s aide. “Some developments on this. Will explain.”TOBIN ROGERS "TOBY" OVERDORF

It looks smoky outside but it’s sand/dust from the trucks hauling the muck out on the Lake O dike. It is awful! I was outside long enough to snap the pic and my eyes are gritty and I feel sand on my skin. If this actually lasts until June they’re gonna need to repair the dike too. 😳

The goal is expansion. Why else would Nvidia be interested in what used to be called a community college? Call me cynical but I doubt Nvidia is interested in student learning in our rural community.
The 9-megawatt figure was chosen because Florida Power & Light informed the college that it was the maximum power capacity at the site, according to the presentation. School leaders, though, are hoping that will grow, and Treadwell mentioned that officials are exploring ways to generate more electricity on-site so it could take fuller advantage of the 200 acres.
"I know we're close to natural gas pipelines — is there an opportunity to build generators out there, turbines out there, or maybe even beyond that?" he remarked. "We're going to be engaged in discussions about how we can fire up more of the site."Treadwell also said that the school would soon be announcing its corporate partner for the campus. While noting that he couldn't break his nondisclosure agreements,
----------
Treadwell mentioned the name of one of the largest data center companies in the world:
Nvidia.

RELATED: Florida lawmakers pass data center bill allowing plans to be kept secret

J. Alex Kelly, the secretary of the commerce department within DeSantis' administration, introduced college leaders to "someone very high up on the Nvidia chain," Treadwell said.
