He's short for a Hrothgar. It's not something he ever really noticed considering there weren't many other Hrothgar in Eorzea to compare himself to and he was bigger than most other races. He really only started realizing his short stature once he arrived in the First and met more Ronso.

As an Elezen, Alisaie will outlive Jaeger by several decades. Were Alisaie to pass on before him though, Jaeger would never be the same. He would find what comfort he could in their children and the rest of the Leveilleur family, but his heart and soul would have died with her.

day 15 - prodigy two teenage girls cannot be expected to venture into the fallen shards of dalamud without getting to know each other. amaris hits a sour subject, and alisaie is fairly gracious about it [ #📝 | #ffxivwrite2026 | #ffxivwrite ]

"So...you attended the Studium?" Amaris asks, her tone awkward as she settles her things on her borrowed cot. Alisaie is across from her and she is much less thorough - less cautious - with the things in her pack.

"Graduated, actually." She offers, her tone level as she shucks layers from her form.

Amaris twists around, offering her companion privacy.

"I'm not naked, you know." Alisaie notes, a brief semblance of a chuckle under her words, as she settles into her cot. The starched fabric squeaks under her and Amaris uses that as a sign she is being truthful about her state of undress.

No falsehoods in her words, Alisaie sits atop her cot in half tied pantaloons and a cotton top a size too big for her. Her fingers pull at the ribbon in her hair, undoing it so she can comb out her braid.

Amaris blinks at the sight and when Alisaie catches the look, she raises a brow.

"Is something the matter?" Alisaie asks.

"No. It's just that...." Amaris mulls over her words carefully. "I expected you to be different, I suppose?"

Alisaie's raised brow does not rest. "How so?"

"Your brother is...much more reserved? I can't imagine him being so at ease with someone." Amaris explains, pulling a undignified snort from Alisaie.

"No, I suppose you're right that he wouldn't strip to his smalls in front of a young lady." Alisaie teases, a flush rising to Amaris' cheeks.

"That isn't at all what I meant." She explains with a growing pout. "You both just seem to be very different people, that's all."

Alisaie flops unceremoniously against the cot. "Very much so onsidering that we are different people." She notes, a tinge of frustration bordering on the edge of her voice.

The conversation ends there, silent save for the sounds of the camp around them. Amaris realizes her words maybe were not the best choice. It is usually frowned upon to act as if twins have identical personalities alongside their near identical physical appearances.

Alisaie's eyes are closed, her arms crossed under the sheets. Amaris wonders if Alisaie also differs from her brother when it comes to love
for conversation, or if she really had given offense. Perhaps she is just tired. Perhaps she is just uninterested.

"What did you study at the Studium?" Amaris pushes, hoping that asking about her will spark further connection - to make the journey into Dalamud's shards more fun than fearful.

Alisaie shifts in her bed, her eyes opening and her head facing Amaris. "A little of everything. Plenty of magick theory, aetherology it's called.
There were other things but atherology was the meat of my studies" She explains, her eyes rolling upwards as she recollects.

"You liked it, then?" Amaris asks, settling in her cot the same as her companion.

Alisaie's face scrunches almost comically. "The schooling was pleasant enough, but..." Her voice trails off and in response, it is Amaris' turn to
raise a brow.

"But?" Amaris pushes.

Alisaie sighs, the back of her head hitting her pillow once again. "I imagine it would have been more fun if I was the same age as my peers."

As the sentence settles in Amaris' ears, she nods. Alphinaud has mentioned before that he and Alisaie had been the youngest students ever admitted into the Studium. When he talks about it, it seems to be a pride point. When Alisaie talks about it, it seems she has a far different perspective - one that downplays the accomplishment.

"It must have been hard for you two." Amaris replies, sympathetic, only for Alisaie to laugh.
"For Alphinaud? No." She corrects. "Alphinaud took to making whatever he considered friends extremely well. I, on the other hand, am not one for shallow, obligatory relationships."

Alisaie says the last part strong, but Amaris can't help but frown. It must have been lonely, she thinks.

The two girls sit in silence again — Amaris' most dreaded sound. She knows that Alisaie just said that she doesn't like things that seem shallow or obligatory, but she offers up her next words anyways.

"Well thankfully, you've got a peer that's your age now." Amaris explains, her eyes shifting around the room. "A friend, if you're interested?"

In reality, the silence that proceeds Amaris' proposal doesn't last long. That fact doesn't mean that she doesn't hold her breath in anticipation of Alisaie's reply.

"Is it that easy?" Alisaie asks, a soft huff of a laugh escaping her lips.

Amaris thinks about the question. She supposes it can be. Friendship shouldn't be hard.

"I think so?" She replies, and when their eyes meet, the serious tone of their conversation over if they could be friends sends them both into a fit of giggles.

Amaris was right, friendship is easy.
