Yuexia frowned, looking disappointed. "My magic always drains quickly during combat. I can hold a shield for hours, but one attack takes a lot out of me."

"What about you, what are your pronouns?"

-- they would be. Reluctantly, Yuexia began to eat some of the offered food. "Who is your... pack?" This man doesn't really seem... human. Maybe a mutant, or perhaps a new kind of person from this world. Not knowing what else to do, Yuexia tried to make themself look as unintimidating--

"That's the most aggressive way anyone has ever said they saved me. Um, thank you, I think." They shifted to slowly stand up. They're not sure they want to eat anything prepared by this, admittedly very scary, man, but they haven't eaten in days, and it's like he said, if he wanted them dead --

— Was it a mistake not to give it a chance? Would she have felt less lonely with a child, even if she hated how it came to be? As these thoughts turned over in her head, Yuexia began to cry, feeling more lonely than she ever had before. —

"I really don't care either way," they shrugged.

"I'm ready!" They call to him, showing off their sick pants.

Denim jeans with like buckles and shit on them. Very cool.

Yuexia resurfaces, their hair soaked and stuck to their face. "Okay, I want to be a mermaid princess, what about you?"

Lín Yuèxià || 林玥夏 @jade-summer.bsky.social · 08/07/2025

"Okay!" Yuexia scans the racks of clothing to find something in her size.

They wade into the water happily and dive under when they get deep enough.

Lín Yuèxià || 林玥夏 @jade-summer.bsky.social · 08/07/2025

"Sure, let me know when you're ready, I have something in mind."

100

Lín Yuèxià || 林玥夏 @jade-summer.bsky.social · 08/07/2025

"We should both pick something out to try on."

"Hopefully this thing holds up okay, it was kinda cheap..."

They pull him into a small alt fashion store. "Isn't this place cool? I found it online."

Lín Yuèxià || 林玥夏 @jade-summer.bsky.social · 08/07/2025

"I gotta go get my swimsuit on, one minute!"

100

Lín Yuèxià || 林玥夏 @jade-summer.bsky.social · 08/07/2025

"It'll be super fun!" They grab his hand.

100

Lín Yuèxià || 林玥夏 @jade-summer.bsky.social · 08/07/2025

"Thank you. Do you wanna go shopping? I want to try on some punk clothes."

100

Lín Yuèxià || 林玥夏 @jade-summer.bsky.social · 07/07/2025

They pat him on the cheek. "You're cute."

100

Lín Yuèxià || 林玥夏 @jade-summer.bsky.social · 07/07/2025

"I'll cash it in now!" They plant a big Ole kiss on his forehead.

100

Lín Yuèxià || 林玥夏 @jade-summer.bsky.social · 07/07/2025

"That's so wonderful, do you have pictures?"

000

Lín Yuèxià || 林玥夏 @jade-summer.bsky.social · 07/07/2025

"I hope not! Anyway what have you been up to? Get any new dresses?"

100

Lín Yuèxià || 林玥夏 @jade-summer.bsky.social · 07/07/2025

"I'm doing alright. I found out there might be a secret bar for magic users, and I've been trying to find it."

100

Lín Yuèxià || 林玥夏 @jade-summer.bsky.social · 07/07/2025

She hugs back enthusiastically. "Hi! How have you been!"

100

Lín Yuèxià || 林玥夏 @jade-summer.bsky.social · 07/07/2025

"I'm going to make it my new personal quest to find this place."

000

Lín Yuèxià || 林玥夏 @jade-summer.bsky.social · 07/07/2025

"There's a secret pub for magic users? That's the first I'm hearing about it."

Lín Yuèxià || 林玥夏 @jade-summer.bsky.social · 07/07/2025

"Very cool! Sorry if I'm asking too many questions, I'm just fascinated."

100

Lín Yuèxià || 林玥夏 @jade-summer.bsky.social · 07/07/2025

"Oh! Thank you for asking." Gendered personal pronouns weren't a thing in Mandarin, and Yuexia usually found themself being called jiejie or meimei, which they didn't mind, but it was nice to be asked. "Any are fine with me."

100

Lín Yuèxià || 林玥夏 @jade-summer.bsky.social · 07/07/2025

"That's super interesting... what else can it do?" They were curious about it, as they hadn't encountered a lot of magical objects of that caliber before.

100

Lín Yuèxià || 林玥夏 @jade-summer.bsky.social · 07/07/2025

"If you lose your composure like that every time, how are you supposed to run a booth?" They teased.

Lín Yuèxià || 林玥夏 @jade-summer.bsky.social · 06/07/2025

They grin and give him an extremely chaste kiss on the cheek.

100

Lín Yuèxià || 林玥夏 @jade-summer.bsky.social · 06/07/2025

"Yeah, I'm a warlock. I'm not used to being sniffed out in public," they joked. "As I understand, warlocks like me don't exist in this world, am I wrong?"

100

Lín Yuèxià || 林玥夏 @jade-summer.bsky.social · 06/07/2025

"Fascinating... I'm a rather young Warlock, so I've never encountered such a thing before." They take a seat next to her at the park bench. "My name is Lin Yuexia," they extend their hand for a handshake.
