There's been an enormous one at the front here attached to a high window ledge and the wheelie bin below, two weeks now. I decided not to put out the bin because I didn't want to destroy it.

Or put more bluntly: "Please use public spending to help maintain our current profit margin". Hard-faced b'stards.

I just did not understand. I thought perhaps the second iteration of 'word' was meant to be another word!

No, I'm here to tell illiterate simpletons like you that no matter how it is distributed (which was the very point I made) they are not a 'failure' by the GDP measure which was the measure put forward.

The word 'word'?

The thing is GDP is not actually divided per person, anywhere. It's a poor measure of national income and doesn't show where it is spent. Russia could use its resources better, but is not a 'failed economy'.

Because its population is smaller!

Jacques Riverain @jacquesriverain.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Russia also maintains a large military and its land area is nearly twice the size, yet it maintains a larger economy. It could use its labour resources better, but the point is it is hardly a 'failure'.

Jacques Riverain @jacquesriverain.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
Russia's economy is about the size of Canada's (it's actually bigger) and they are also similarly large areas. So is Canada an economic failure? Carlson is wrong on the basic point, but Mogg's claim Russia's economy is a 'failure' is wrong.

I know you do. It's why I responded. Glad you finally worked it out.

Obviously because your response was the one I wanted to address. It's not a hard thing to work out.

You got it nevertheless. As is normal on social media. No-one asked for yours either.

Since nothing is really ever revealed about people taken away like this, they could be abducted and murdered and who would know? It's madness. Maybe with all those millions of guns allegedly to 'stop the govt', it's time to form militias? Filming isn't stopping anything.

The stock market is not the driver of the economy. It is a parasitic element which exists because government sells bonds. And it's chief result is not money being spent, but saved.

This assumes private investment is the sole engine of the economy, but it is not. There are many reasons people don't spend, whether it is taxed or tax-free. In principle dividends are income.

Justice is supposed to be neutral, but they've taken to cranking up the plight of the victims to the point where it is the victims demanding blood. Everyone understand s the victim's loss and anger, but the justice system was set up to obviate mob justice.

Yet the boyfriend got life with possibility of parole. Killing her won't bring the victim back. And now she's getting 'life-saving care' in a hospital with a likely brain injury. Why? If they were adamant on executing her. The death penalty is the sign of a backward society.

I've met a lot of people like you. Wanting it both ways, pretending to 'care about stuff' so long as it doesn't get in the way of all the things you just 'want'. Then when it's revealed acting tough with 'despise me if you want'. You're a fraud.

To limit 'borrowing'? Make sure you explain that 'borrowing' is only misleading terminology.
000
Jacques Riverain @jacquesriverain.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
... or why it uses that terminology. My 'point of view' exactly explains how anything is purchased and invested in by such a government. You would need to grasp a number of facts for it to dawn on you. Your current misunderstandings prevent this.

Jacques Riverain @jacquesriverain.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
It is a money user, but also the issuer. That is the crucial difference. It doesn't need to 'earn' what it spends. It also doesn't 'borrow' what it can issue at will; be assured that every payment govt makes is made that way. You say 'borrow' because you don't understand that mechanism...
110
Jacques Riverain @jacquesriverain.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Also govt bidding against the private sector is an inflation risk. If they argue they have a self-imposed funding cap then the very mechanism proposed to temper private sector mayhem just evaporates. A non-private grid providing privatised energy with support/funds is privatisation consolidation.
001
Jacques Riverain @jacquesriverain.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
You don't really know what you're talking about. The utterances 'find funds' and 'print money' in relation to govt is not coherent. Updating infrastructure, or any investment, is a real resources issue, not a financial one for govt. They are not a simple money user, they don't make 'profits'.

There are many fronts. The one which has closed down the right to protest and pass on information is hers and the other people there. Everyone engaged in civil disobedience knows there's an arrest risk. As is happens no 'taxpayers paid for anything, but that's another discussion.

Just initiate a job guarantee you neoliberal numpty. 'Matching' people to employers is just a silly idea paying employers to take on employees. Do a JG and they'll soon be competing for employees, as the economy develops. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Bastards. While rolling out the red carpet any time anyone whines about 'growing anti-Semitism on campuses'. Universities are very money-motivated now acting like businesses, which they are effectively.

Yes, the system makes it awkward. My brother is also a carer with a similar problem. He works minimum hours.
000
Jacques Riverain @jacquesriverain.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
I know where tax money comes from and I agree with your overall point. What I am saying is that the spending used for subsidising low wages (or spending for anything) is not 'tax money'. Tax is what the govt redeems, a portion of prior spending, to cancel it, to make way for new, targeted spending.
000
Jacques Riverain @jacquesriverain.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
There's a simple way to raise wages. A job guarantee with a set 'living wage'. Which sets a wage floor. If the private sector wants to employ people from that pool it must match or better the wage. And there's no reason for anyone to accept a low wage when a JG offers a living wage.
110
Jacques Riverain @jacquesriverain.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
A higher wage means you can earn the same or more working fewer hours.
100
Jacques Riverain @jacquesriverain.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
Pushing costs to the consumer is a business decision not inevitable. They choose it to maintain a particular profit margin. No 'taxpayers' subsidise anything, 'taxpayers' are not the source of govt spending. It is simply that public spending goes to subsidise business decisions.
