Yeah, that seems fair to me. I was being silly and having a "is he talking about me?" moment

I have been pleasantly surprised by Pushin's speed (even from the west coast of the US)!

Alright, I'm curious to know what "one of the first users of GitHub" means. Do you mean me or do you have an earlier user of GH trying out Pushin?

Thanks again. I'm very familiar with that rule change, I live in Seattle, just south of BC. Also, the whole US west coast will make the same change if US Congress ever changes a law to let us do so. I really liked the phrase "dual-column pattern is necessary when the local intent is authoritative"

They're targeting a golf course on a public park... I think I'm okay with that (that's a 30 minute bike ride from my house)

Seattle is about to get screwed. King County Council is proposing to increase our sales tax and send it to wealthy suburbs that don’t want to pay for their own road building. It will soak Seattle for $3 million a year, in perpetuity, to maintain roads in Medina and Bellevue. Ask for a fair deal 👇🏻

I've lived in this neighborhood for over 5 years and have never seen a coyote, and then had two sightings in one morning. On Seward Park Ave S and S Orcas St, a couple hours apart

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that. I definitely know the feeling, a few years ago I had a proposal I was really excited about but multiple conferences rejected it, such a bummer. Will you be attending ElixirConf?

Good rules to follow, and that will definitely be discussed. At least part of the talk will be about when you only want to deal with records for "today" (or some other time zone dependent time window), going over options, trade-offs, and footguns for how to do that.

I'll be speaking at ElixirConf US 2026! Talk is "It's just a matter of time... zones" If you have preferred practices for dealing with time zones in your apps/database I'd love to hear them. #ElixirLang

Admittedly, these tests are kind of testing implementation details, but those telemetry events also drive an admin introspection/debugging UI

Jacob Swanner @jacobswanner.com · 27/03/2026
I have tests for a gen_statem like: assert_state_change(context, :connecting) assert_connection_started(context) Those assert_* helpers use `assert_receive`, via :telemetry_test Trigger is `:telemetry.execute` on gen_statem state enter

Jacob Swanner @jacobswanner.com · 26/03/2026
I have a number of tests that use hook into telemetry events, in order to ensure certain things happen with `assert_receive` (or `refute_receive`). Those tests are being flagged as vacuous

Jacob Swanner @jacobswanner.com · 26/03/2026
I'm not sure if `phx.gen.auth` still adds this test, which checks that the password is redacted from inspect: ``` refute inspect(%Account{password: "123456"}) =~ "password: \"123456\"" ``` Your credo check flagged that one
