Thought it was further proof of concept for RDZ: these players can look like a good team! Also for his selections. Bergvall integral, Gallagher v useful, Senesi did well. Kudus good too.

You can slice it how you want. But I think the combination of the dominance first 50ish mins and the fightback to get the point makes it more positives than negaties. Even though there were a lot of the same frustrations there again today

Spurs' good spell lasted for more like 50ish minutes today. They didn't take advantage (again), lost it a bit second half (again). But they kept going and the fight that rescued that point is worth something.

Spurs' first 30 minutes are getting better. Everton, good. Villa, better. Today, even better. But they never score and then minutes 30-90 are a problem...

I thought the football in the first half was good, the chance creation was good, Suzuki was brilliant and on another day Spurs would have been out of sight. But they weren't, and in the PL in 2026 you have to grind it out for 100 minutes. Can Spurs?

Jack Pitt-Brooke @jackpittbrooke.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
FT 2-3. Another dreadful second half from Spurs. Frustrated, bullied and then picked off by Villa. Tottenham couldn't sustain their early intensity and heads dropped as soon as it went wrong. Two goals at the end make the scoreboard look different.

Jack Pitt-Brooke @jackpittbrooke.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
HT 0-1. Spurs start well, create actual chances, force four saves from Zion Suzuki... and then Manzambi taps in after Villa take advantage, while Van de Ven was off the pitch for treatment. And Pedro Porro's gone off injured. Hmmm.

Often goes under the radar quite how significantly Tottenham's business model has shifted. Once one of elite football's most sustainable clubs, now reliant on huge owner funding Latest injection, per @jackpittbrooke.bsky.social below, takes funding since May 2022 beyond £450million

Mixed performance from Spurs. Good in the first half before they conceded. Lost their way but then fought back well second half. Created a fair bit but still lacking precision/confidence in front of goal. Feels like the attacking play is improving even if no rewards yet.

FT 3-1. Brilliant Mamardashvili save from Marmoush (would have made it 2-2) and then Szoboszlai wonderstrike makes it 3-1. Spurs fought back but Liverpool so much better in both boxes, and through to third round of the League Cup.

23 minutes left and Liverpool looking physically dominant now. Spurs can't get out. Wonder if they need a few more changes just to give themselves a chance.

Gakpo makes it 2-0, cutting in from the left and scoring. Liverpool had Spurs penned back a bit after some good possession. Spurs have it all to do.

HT 1-0 to Liverpool. Spurs started well and had some good moments, chances for Bergvall and Kudus. At times they've looked physically sharp, but still lacking precision/confidence in final third. And Liverpool look like opening them up again, with Spurs build up getting nervier.

MacAllister puts Liverpool 1-0 up from the edge of the box after Gakpo drives in from he left, passes to Ngumoha on the other side, who skips past Udogie and the ball fell to MacAllister. Well worked but Spurs were second best there

Jack Pitt-Brooke @jackpittbrooke.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
Should be 1-0 up, Udogie crosses from the left, deflected, Bergvall left footed shot well saved by Mamardashvili. Good move by Spurs
