I play Dungeons & Dragons on Adventure is Nigh! I watch bad movies on Best of the Worst. I perform Improv Comedy at Comedy Sportz. And somehow, I still think I’m pretty cool.

I will be replaying it and making some purposefully different choices to see more of what missed this first time. Like, there's fish people in the underdark... what????? I look forward to seeing more of this weird and beautiful world.

It's not a perfect game. There was so much jank both intended an unintended. Like, when do you WANT ME to use mage hand?!?! But it was worth it. Here's a shot of something weird that happened a few times. My character got jettisoned from the planet and could do nothing but load a previous save.

The orb is not a part of the game and this character should not be standing on it.
Your character cannot move and you can do nothing while on the orb.

I beat Baldur's Gate 3! In total: 252 hours and 3 attempts over the past 3 years. 85 hours in this last one alone! (a pure Wizard playthrough) Now, I always liked this game but now seeing most of it... it's somehow so much better than I thought it would be. The hype is real and deserved.

Most of my cuts to Adventure is Nigh! boil down to "the players over-explain what they're about to do". Making plans, explaining combat... Because we can just show what they did... or what they failed at. So Ep 7... being mostly combat and making plans means I cut nearly an hour and 45 minutes!!!
A screenshot showing two editing timelines stacked on top of each other.
The top timeline is made of long rectangles and has a total time of 2 hours and 36 minutes
The bottom timeline is SEVERAL small rectangles with a total time of 50 minutes.

Episode 6 was one of the lightest cuts of the season, only removing about 50 minutes. It was pretty Role-Play heavy (which I loved) combat takes up the most of the cut time, as we're looking up rules and explaining what things do. Make sure to catch up before a new episode drops this Saturday.
Two editing timelines stacked on top of each other to showcase the difference between in-edited and edited footage.
The unedited timeline is about 1 hour and 50 minutes and appears as long, unbroken rectangles.
The edited time line is only about 50 minutes and is comprised of hundreds of tiny rectangles.

Season 5: Episode 4 of Adventure is Nigh! was pretty Role-Play heavy, which (as you can see below) means less cutting overall. Only scooped out an hour 20, AND i got to do my favorite impression durring the episode... annoyed David Lynch. Make sure to catch up before the new episode this Saturday!
A premiere pro editing panel showing 2 timelines.

The flow of an Adventure is Nigh! episode is something that is really important to me. I know people have asked for an unedited version, but the pacing is what (I think) helps us stand out among other TTRPG Actual Plays. Here’s the editing timeline for episode 503… I only cut out an hour!
2, Premier Pro editing timelines.
One showing all the raw footage with a time stamp at 2 hours and 8 minutes.
Another showing a heavily edited timeline with a timestamp at 1 hour and 2 minutes.
This means the, in the editing process, I removed 1 hour and 6 minutes of footage.

6 Players, 1 DM, and a whole lot of rolling dice & looking up rules means that I cut out out over an hour and a half of Episode 2 of Adventure is Nigh! Out this Saturday.
A screenshot of an editing timeline.
The top portion is several bars with a noted length of 2 hours and 23 minutes.
The bottom portion, instead of being singular long bars... is hundreds of tiny bars denoting where cuts or edits where mad.
The noted time of the bottom portion is 56 minutes.
Meaning that I, the editor cut our an hour and 30 minutes worth of stuff.
You would think that this is maddening... and it can be.

Yeah, I’m starting a new exercise routine.

There is a caption underneath the photo that reads “Face Uplifter”.A black-and-white picture of a woman standing up in a skin tight jumpsuit, bending her head, and holding one of her hands to her bent head.
Theoretically, this is some sort of exercise.
Underneath the picture, there is a title that reads “spare tire fighter”.A black-and-white picture of a woman standing up on one leg with her other leg bent and across her body, her arms are in an outward position opposite to her bent leg.
Theoretically, this is some sort of exercise.
I’m so sorry if you’re only reading the caption of this and can’t actually see the picture it is so bizarre that I’m having a hard time describing it.

You can’t trick me into thinking this is an album of classical music… I know a wizard battle when I see one!!!
A stack of vinyl records, all in their sleeves. On top of a stack of vinyls is one featuring the faces of two old, white men.
One of the men has a very long white beard and the other is holding a conductor’s baton, which clearly looks like a wand.
The album is titled:

Psychomania (1973) A biker gang makes a deal with a demon to become an UNDEAD biker gang so they can wreak havoc on a small town with their motorcycles!!! ...and it's the most boring. Sometimes the problem digging through old B-movies is... they're just bad and not fun bad.
the DVD cover for the 1973 movie "Psychomania"
Is features a couple people riding motorcycles with helmets that kind-of look like skulls.
There's a pull quote at the bottom that read "The grooviest zombie biker movie of them all!"

That quote is wrong... it's a very boring movie.

Ashmodai from Godkiller: Oblivion/Balance

Second Row is:
Kayden Bartless From Ancestral BLood
Kesh from Dice Legends

Bottom Row is:
Latavia Ticklepuss from Adventure is Nigh!: The Liar, The Withc, and the Wartorn

It should be noted that there are pictures of the finalists and while 4 of them are headshots of the performers, Latavia (mine) is of Latavia.

Tomorrow is new Adventure is Nigh! day!!! This might have been the most difficult episode to edit as it has the toughest balance of tension, drama, and dick jokes. Also it's later in the shoot, so while recording we were both excited and exhausted. 2 hours: 41 minutes of footage down to just 1:04.
The image shows two editing time-lines in, digital editing software, Adobe Premier Pro.
In the software both video and audio is represented by rectangles.

The top time-lime shows all the collected footage from the Episode 8 shoot of Adventure is Nigh! in order with nothing removed. The total time is 2 hours and 41 minutes.
The bottom time-line features significantly more rectangles, all smaller in size. Each break in a rectangle represents an edit made and this bottom time-line has hundreds of breaks.
The bottom timeline has a total time of 1 hour and 4 minutes meaning 1 hour and 36 minutes has been cut out of the episode.
All to say that a lot of work and love goes into this show.
I think it's worth it as making this show it truly one of the highlights of not just my work day/week but in my life in general.
Season 4 has been themed heavily about the adventurers finding joy and by no coincidence, while it is a metric butt-ton of work, I've found a lot of joy within creating this show with all of these wonderful people.

The middle frame is famed author and video game critic Yahtzee. He has his hand open and is looking mostly confused.
The bottom frame is notable sicko Jenna Stoeber who is combining the hand positions of the top from with the confused look of the middle frame.
You can not tell from this picture but they are currently playing Dungeons and Dragons and Jack (me, the Dungeon Master) has given them a clue.

Who wants to come to my creepy basement and play board games with me? The Adventure is Nigh! version of The Red Dragon Inn is shipping out now to Kickstarter backers and I just got my hands on a whole pallet of 'em! Thanks again to SlugFest Games for making this silly thing happen.
Deep in a basement in Milwaukee, a handsome man with glasses and a tastefully trimmed mustache sits on boxes labeled "SlugFest Games".
This man is holding the board game "The Red Dragon Inn" specifically the "Adventure is Nigh!" version of Red Dragon Inn.
The man is looking directly into the camera lens, "right down the barrel" as it's known, and in his eyes you can see an intensity that only comes from someone who plays a lot of D&D.

In a hotel in New Jersey and this lamp/mirror placement is artistic as hell! The lamp obscuring the face… I’m sure it means something…
A photo of a laptop on a desk with a lamp over the laptop.
On the wall behind the desk is a large circular mirror. In the mirror you can see my torso.
But the lamp is placed in such a way as to obscure my head.
This could be considered an artistic statement… like that painting with the pear in front of that dudes face.
I’m pretty sure that the lamp is placed there to make sure that I keep working and don’t get distracted looking at that handsome man in the mirror!!!!

Instead of looking at Adrian Brody's Oscar speech at length alone, we should factor in it's relation to how long the movie is. His speech was 2.6% of The Brutalist which, while too long for the Academy, is in line with other "long" speeches. (based on the length of their movies) This is very sane.
A screenshot of a spreadsheet listing (in order) Year of award, Actor, Award, length of speech (in minutes) movie, and lengths of movie (in minutes), and percentage of speech as compared to movie.
it reads:
2025 Adrien Brody (Best Actor) 5.6 The Brutalist 215 - 2.6%
1942 Greer Garson (Best Actress) 5.5	Mrs. Miniver 133 - 4.1%
2014 Mathew McConaughey (Best Actor) 3.2 Dallas Buyers Club 117 - 2.7%
2014 Cate Blanchett (Best Actress) 3.2 Blue Jasmine 98 - 3.3%
2008 Marion Cotillard (Best Actress) 0.9 Le Vie en Rose 140 - 0.6%
1963 Patty Duke (Best Supporting Actress) 0.01 The Miracle Worker	106 - 0.01%
2002 Halle Berry (Best Actress) 4.2 Monsters Ball 111 - 3.78%
2005 Jamie Foxx (Best Actor) 3.4 Ray 152 - 2.24%
1991	Joe Pesci (Best Supporting Actor) 0.08 Goodfellas 146 - 0.05%
1993 Al Pacino (Best Actor) 3.75 Scent of a Woman 156 - 2.40%

OSCARS Time allotment 0.75 AVG Movie time 90 - 0.83%
OSCARS Time allotment 0.75 AVG Movie time 110 - 0.68%

This is obviously a very sane and rational way to think about how long acceptance speeches should be.

Here's a before/after timeline of Adventure is Nigh! (S4 Ep4). Alost 3 hours of raw footage cut down to about 65 minutes. A few gags that don't land and some dice rolls that don't end up having any consequences. And a lot of players repeating themselves because I don't understand.
A screenshot of a digital editing program, Adobe Premiere. In the screenshot there are two "timelines" of footage. The "timeline" on top shows several stacked rectangles that are representing video and audio clips. Most of the rectangles are long and unbroken, you can see that the time of the rectangles is somewhere around 3 hours long.
The bottom "timeline" in stark contract to the large rectangles of the top "timeline" has hundreds of very small rectangles. These hundreds of small rectangles signify every time an edit had to be made. Hundreds of edits which equals several hours of editing time, hours of my life that while sometimes is incredibly frustrating overall I find very fulfilling and enjoy to a degree that is hard to vocalize.
The bottomed "timeline", because of all of the edits has a final time of about 65 minutes.
So through the series of hundreds of edits I was able to remove 2 hours worth of footage.
While there will be some people who want to see all of the footage, it's in the editing that I get to finish crafting the story and pacing of the video. Also.. I don't thing THAT many people want to to see the unedited version and most prefer the more compact version of the show we present.
At very least I like removing most of the times I say "um".

Then Eric shares a picture of Jack laughing, it a big hearty, boisterous kind of laugh that showcases Jack's very handsome mustache and the kind of laugh that leaves his big manly mouth very much open. You can see the top row of Jack's teeth and in one of the rear molars is a noticeable dark spot.
Jack responds: "Ha! No, it's a filling from a former cavity"

Tomorrow is brand new Adventure is Nigh!
An illustrated image of a tabaxi (cat person) pulling on a long knot of ropes while the background is on fire.
This is a promotional image for the Dungeons and Dragons actual play show, Adventure is Nigh!
The new season of Adventure is Nigh! starts on Saturday February 15th 2025... hey, that's tomorrow.
The show has live players, playing and also animated segments. It's a really good show.

Listen up nerds! This Saturday starts the new season of Adventure is Nigh! Our slightly animated D&D actual play.
An illustrated picture of a cat person (tabaxi) wearing a pink hood and cape over armor. The cat person is pulling on some rope that is all knotted up.
Completely unrelated, a “cat’s paw” is a kind of knot.
Back to the illustration, there is a small city on fire in the background .
There’s text on the picture reading “ adventure is nigh the cat’s paw” and “February 15”
Adventure is Nigh is the name of the show. The cat’s paw is that name of the season and February 15th is when the first episode airs.

Biscuit has some strong feelings on whether I should get up or play more Elden Ring.
A picture of a fluffy cat half laying on a lap and half smushed against the armrest or a recliner chair.
Behind the cat is a little bit of Jean covered leg and sock covered foot… no toes you sickos.
Behind that is a wall with gaming systems below a at TV.
On the TV is the inventory screen from Elden Ring.
You can’t see it, but I’m deciding on if I want to use Rellana’s swords.
