The thing I like about this is we can measure impact by demographic group and poke at each other… similar to when groups were raising money for Kamala Harris. It drives engagement.

@generalstrikeus.bsky.social Instead of relying solely on participation in a one-time strike, would a rolling, demographic-based spending blackout that systematically weakens corporate strongholds and pressures political systems before, during, and after the strike itself work?

Fair enough, and I appreciate the olive branch. I agree, we probably do share more common ground than it seems here. I’ll follow back, and we can continue the discussion when you’re ready. Rest well—talk soon!

How do we hold everyone accountable—Jewish, Palestinian, or otherwise—if speaking out is automatically seen as hate? Celebrating death and destruction on any side is heartbreaking, and I think we need to be able to call that out without fear of being misunderstood.

I hear what you’re saying, and I appreciate you pointing out how my words could come across. I absolutely believe antisemitism is wrong and must be condemned. At the same time, does that mean we can’t challenge harmful behaviors or policies without being labeled antisemitic?

If peace was truly the goal, shouldn’t emphasis be addressing the root causes that push people to these extremes? This isn’t about choosing sides—it’s about fairness and humanity.

Yes, groups like Hamas and Islamic Jihad commit violence, and that’s wrong. But can we also ask what drives people toward these groups? How does the daily oppression of Palestinians through land seizures, checkpoints, and restrictions feed into that cycle?

I get where you’re coming from, and I absolutely agree that antisemitism is wrong. But criticizing Israeli policies isn’t antisemitism—it’s about holding systems accountable. Both Israelis and Palestinians deserve safety and dignity, and ignoring the harm Palestinians face doesn’t help anyone.

Your username suggests love for humanity, but the way you frame this conflict seems to dismiss the shared responsibility for where things stand today. Shouldn’t empathy extend to recognizing the harm caused by both sides, including those we support?
010 1
Tremont House @jackiefehr.bsky.social · 20/01/2025
Empathy goes both ways. I can acknowledge the pain on all sides, but we also need to talk about how Israel’s actions fuel this violence. Ignoring the systemic oppression that creates this cycle doesn’t solve anything—it just keeps it going.

I found it ironic because you frame yourselves as the sole victims while ignoring the broader context of power dynamics and systemic actions. It’s not about dismissing feelings but acknowledging responsibility on all sides.

Yes, it’s tragic that Israelis were killed, but we already know that. The real question is: Why did this happen? If they don’t address the deeper causes—like the systemic injustices that fuel this violence—they’ll stay stuck in a cycle of outrage and retaliation instead of finding real solutions.

This is like when people focus on condemning protests in the U.S. instead of addressing the systemic racism that caused them. The same goes for Gaza—recognizing the root causes of occupation and oppression isn’t excusing violence, it’s about breaking the cycle that created it.

Hamas wasn’t founded until 1987—40 years after the UN partition. In that time, Palestinians faced the Nakba, Israeli occupation (1967), and fought for self-determination through the PLO. Focusing only on Hamas ignores decades of oppression and resistance.

The latest innovation in tech allows for the direct bribery of the president using securities fraud. Just breathtaking how brazen this is.
"Screenshot from an Axios article discussing cryptocurrency tied to Trump-controlled entities. It explains that 200 million out of 1 billion total coins have been released and are actively traded, while the remaining coins will be sold over the next three years. It estimates Trump's companies will sell about 24 million coins monthly, generating an estimated income of $1.73 billion per month or $20.7 billion annually, although future coin value is uncertain."

Criticizing Israel doesn’t mean supporting Hamas. It’s about holding the more powerful side accountable for its actions, while still opposing violence from all sides.

Criticizing Hamas doesn’t absolve Israel of responsibility for its actions. Both can be true: Hamas’ tactics are problematic, and Israel’s ongoing occupation, blockades, and disproportionate responses have created the conditions for this cycle of violence.

Detaining children without charge isn’t about security—it’s a violation of international law. Painting an entire population as complicit in ‘training terrorists’ dehumanizes and ignores the systemic oppression and trauma these kids endure under occupation.

While Egypt does play a role, Israel controls nearly every aspect of Gaza’s borders, airspace, and resources, so the humanitarian crisis isn’t just Egypt’s doing—it’s systemic.

Gaza’s entire population shouldn’t be punished for electing Hamas almost 20 years ago. Most Gazans, especially the younger generation, had no say in that election, and collective punishment violates international law.
010 1
Tremont House @jackiefehr.bsky.social · 19/01/2025
Wars don’t justify collective punishment. Over half of Gaza’s population are children who had no part in starting any conflict. Cutting electricity to hospitals and homes isn’t about defense—it’s about creating unnecessary suffering for innocent civilians.

Over 70% of Gaza’s population are registered refugees according to UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency). This includes individuals and families displaced since the 1948 Nakba and subsequent conflicts. You can verify this directly through UNRWA reports and data on Gaza’s refugee population.

On January 15, 2025, an Israeli airstrike in Jenin, a city within Area A, resulted in the deaths of three Palestinians and injuries to several others. The IDF confirmed the operation, highlighting ongoing military activities in areas designated for Palestinian Authority control.

The IDF frequently raids Area A despite the Oslo Accords, & checkpoints impact ordinary Palestinians trying to live their lives, not just militants. most Palestinians are civilians enduring occupation, restrictions, and daily hardship—not violent aggressors.

Yes, Israel controls Area C under the Oslo Accords—but that control was never meant to be permanent. It was a step toward peace, not a justification for endless occupation or settlement expansion, which violates international law. The ICJ addresses those violations, not the agreement itself.

The walkout reflects a global message of dissent and condemnation, not just empty theatrics. When world leaders take a stand like this, it signals that policies and actions are under intense international scrutiny. It’s not insignificant—it shows that the world is watching.

Even if intent is debated, what’s proven is clear: mass civilian deaths, forced displacement, destruction of homes, and unlivable conditions for millions of Palestinians. Whether you call it genocide or not, the actions speak for themselves—and they’re devastating.

Tremont House @jackiefehr.bsky.social · 19/01/2025
War doesn’t justify mass suffering… targeting civilians, cutting off basic needs, & creating unlivable conditions violate international law. Blaming all Palestinians for their own suffering ignores decades of systemic oppression & most are innocent civilians trapped in a cycle they didn’t choose.

Tremont House @jackiefehr.bsky.social · 19/01/2025
Amnesty didn’t redefine genocide—it uses the UN’s definition, which includes acts like forcibly displacing people, destroying homes, and creating conditions that threaten a group’s survival. Instead of dismissing the findings, look at the documented evidence of what’s happening on the ground.
