I also took a closer look at grants that Ted Cruz flagged as “woke”. One of them is for the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign which uses NSF funds to buy NVIDIA GPUs for researchers. Just last month, Marc Andressen credited UIUCs computing resources for helping him develop the Mosaic browser.
