albums from the last week. That new ddwy EP is exceptional. Think I need to revisit the Bullion album we didn't click with it first time but the last tune 101 Dalmatians is fantastic.

Still incredibly sad that this months was the last issue of The Skinny. I'm not saying it's my fault but it also happens to be the only issue which features me in the form of the back of my stupid bald head - so it's possible I could have put a curse on it... www.theskinny.co.uk/intersection...

Fair enough if there's an anecdotal feeling that that is the case but very hard to know that but also think the task of "resisting the far right" is endlessly more complicated than Kenmure Street alone - although obviously the quick reacting networks, showing up, mutual aid etc all very important

Finally watched Everybody to Kenmure Street yesterday and as expected was a tearjerker. Q&A after was interesting but one thing that struck me was director saying he didn't think networks and communities are as strong as they were then to react/resist far right for example. Aren't they?

Don't really know what my point is here just having some thoughts, and posting them online where I previously have not because I used to like chatting shit online and feel like it brought me something, and enjoyed the few little online connections I used to have.

But at the same time think why not? Is it that fatigue/anger at infrastructure or something else? Surely it's better than nothing when we have the far right openly organising nazi pogroms in the Facebook comments section.

Experienced this thing a few times where at the end of a political/organising event organisers are like "let's keep this energy going join the WhatsApp community!" and people (myself included) just sometimes can't be arsed with that being the only output or try and it doesn't really materialise...

jack @jackdscott.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
Not putting that purely down to online/offline as had a lot of friends move away and also the general fatigue of being online and anger at who owns the infrastructure of online spaces. But genuinely interested in what online communities/forms of online organising people find fulfilling/productive?

jack @jackdscott.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
Certainly is true for some things (i.e. ~the rave~) but in reality I think it's more nuanced. I have tried to do more "in-person" things in the past few years and have generally been less online but honestly have found myself more isolated and making fewer connections not more.

jack @jackdscott.bsky.social · 17/09/2026
Been thinking a fair bit recently about the dichotomy between online/in-person community/organising/doing stuff in general. I feel like post-covid there's a belief that "in-person" organising, meet-ups, events or whatever are always superior.

Seeing some guy sharing an optimal listening seasons for different Grouper albums chart and instantly following everyone in the comments. This is why I will never delete social media. Incredibly important work.

How possible is it in the current UK socioeconomic landscape to quit your job and make money entirely off just just cutting about, pottering, writing about some stuff maybe sometimes? Asking for myself.

Been a Stars of the Lid and a Bicep - Bicep kind of week. Bicep - Glue I'm afraid to say remains an absolute banger and should go down as history as such despite techno boy guru associations. Smerz You got time I got money has been stuck in my head all week n all Unsure about new Gorillaz album..

Albums from the past week. Think I might have overlooked that Huerco S. album (although the weird mumbly vocal track I'm sorry to say is rubbish). That Ulla album is real nice will be tucking into more of their discography for sure.

Looking at all of them really does elicit a fairly strong "thank fuck for music" emotional response Also really happy to see recent music in there like Bullion and ML Buch albums - I adore those albums as much as the older stuff. Goes to show your favourite album of all time might not be out yet!

I've been using last fm since September 2011, almost half my life. I just hit 100,000 scrobbles. These are my most listened to albums of all time! Obviously doesn't take into account records, CDs, countless hours of radio, pre-last fm emo phase - but reckon it's a pretty good representation of me.

Happy Friday 13th! To celebrate the success of the UK establishment's continued "clarity" on trans exclusion, I am delighted to share a major update to my blog post "What's wrong with the Cass Review?" The biggest change is an entirely new section on harms caused. ruthpearce.net/2024/04/16/w...

It really does feel good to see there is still some semblance of justice left. I know people which might not go to prison as a result of this. But can't help feel that those who brought about this should be held accountable for the harm they've caused www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

Amounts to nothing more than thinly veiled conversion therapy and social murder of trans people and despite the truly awful disheartening environment we should still do everything we can to oppose, including responding to the consultation regardless: consult.education.gov.uk/independent-...

This is absolutely horrific stuff. I shouldn't be surprised anymore but just makes all the responding to consultations and pushing my employer to resist the bullshit new guidance seem incredibly pointless when the government are just going to push ahead anyway.
