In Ohio they just repealed the state gas tax for 90 days to give trump politcal cover. To make up for the tax shortfall they're raiding the general fund. Basically weakening our future prospects to prop up trump. Pathetic isn't it?

That conspiracy doesn't actually reflect reality well. trump was screaming at companies for raising their prices in response to his illegal tariffs. And the prices aren't going to come down to pre-tariff level. They might drop a little, but not back to what they were. Elections are a month away.

"to affect a panic"? If that widget costs $8 to build and they were selling it for $9 then a $1 tariff came along they had to raise their prices to maintain a profit margin. That's not gouging. That's inflation due to a production tax. And since prices are sticky, they tend to not come down.
