Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Felt like Wissa at times dropped too, and him and Willock were playing as 8s sometimes and 10s at others. It helped us get more control of possession first half 010
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 19/09/2026As much as it would have been nice to score the pen and coast, having to proper fight and grind out a result against a physical team is probably a better experience for our team at this stage. Night and day the amount of fight shown today. Felt like Botman blocked 30 shots on his own 000
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Botman and Thiaw have struggled with physical forwards every time. As much as I like each of them, it feels like we concede a lot of goals with them playing. Both feel like incomplete centre halves and I'm not sure they make a particularly strong partnership 100
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 11/09/2026I think they're pretty much all told to drive bigger cars these days. The low seats do a number on their backs and hamstrings if they drive them too long 121
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Sure that's an option, but it's also what we saw get very stale after the last 5 years. All of the top top teams play 4 2 3 1, they just get the balance right (or not in Liverpool's case) We just need time imo. We've played it for a month. I don't mind dropping to 4 3 3 if we're defending a lead 100
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 07/09/2026It needs to be Wissa in the 10. He can hold the ball up much better, he is an option for the 6s to progress the ball, and he gets stuck in tracking back 6 months ago I'd have never ever thought this would be the answer 101
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 29/08/2026It's a harsh headline if you actually read the article. He's basically saying he tries to be a mix of the two perspectives he experienced as a player 000
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 26/08/2026Looked like it hit his thigh first and then bounced up to his arm 000
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 15/08/2026In terms of right now yeah we need this. But it does concern me that if a 31 year old comes in and is expected to start every week, we stunt another year of Miley development or a year of Steur/Bamba. Steur needs to adapt, sure, but he's played Champions League already and has looked great so far 000
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 15/08/2026Every game he plays he has 3 or 4 touches and possessions where you can see exactly what he could be. The issue is either he doesn't get himself into the right positions enough to get the ball more often, or we don't get him the ball enough. Or both. 000
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 08/08/2026Feels like a huge oversight / missed opportunity not having Botman lifting the Batman Cup there #NUFC 030
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 07/08/2026I'm actually quite relieved. I thought they'd make more significant changes and I'm glad they haven't 031
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 04/08/2026Conflicted feelings. In one sense, it's a huge sadness as I felt that he was one of the very few players who 'got' us and was built to play for us. In another sense, it's a reminder that loyalty only exists when it's convenient, in football. I think Dan Burn might be the only one I trust. 051
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 04/08/2026Sounds very much like the silhouette here is one of several options, doesn't it? And that we'll see them all at some point this month as part of a poll? 000
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 01/08/2026Think we'll be hearing stories about the little things Howe did that didn't get made a big deal of for years to come. A bit like how the Keegan stories have emerged over the years and the last fortnight. Some people are just A+ human beings 010
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 30/07/2026Howe raised the bar himself. The investment wasn't actually that large. For us, yeah Competitively, certainly not. Howe dragged this team to immense over performance, developed players into world class stars, then suffered under the weight of the standards he had set. 110
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 30/07/2026I think sections of NUFC fans pushed him out and he's right to go. We're on for a tough season and a bad start would have seen him under immense scrutiny and sacked, pleased he's left on his terms. Dismayed at the lack of loyalty from some fans. The same who will complain about Bruno wanting out. 020
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 30/07/2026Feel a massive irony at so many #nufc fans dismayed by the lack of loyalty from Isak, Tonali, Gordon and now Bruno, yet chase Eddie Howe out of town after one underwhelming season 18 months after he wins us our first trophy in 50 years. Loyalty works both ways. 0201
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 30/07/2026I guess you're only as good as the most recent season aren't you... I find it mad how everyone is so quick to point at least season and seems to have forgotten the four that went before it. When we finished 5th and won a trophy for the first time in 50 years... Some short memories here 120
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 27/07/2026It clearly hasn't been a straightforward one given the delay since it was first shared. £40m on the face of it, it's a little high but if it secures your #1 for the next 5+ years it's worth it. It sounds like there's either release clauses or buy backs involved. 010
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 24/02/2026Didn't think much of their Woltemade analysis. Complaining he's not involved enough... He plays Burn through to set up the first goal. Plays Barnes through to set up the Joelinton goal. Plays Murphy through for what should have been a goal. He's played through balls for all 3 of our big chances 010
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 19/02/2026Is it just me or is this not a 4-2-3-1 at all? It looks like Woltemade is a left sided number 8 in our usual 4-3-3. Bit more flexible, but I'm not sure it's an entirely new set up and not sure Woltemade is a 10 in it 010
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 14/02/2026Seemed to me like Woltemade was playing more as a left sided 8 than a 10 first half 000
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 14/02/2026Ref and lino both guilty of waiting for VAR to do their job for them. It's as if they forgot it isn't in place today. 000
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 08/02/2026Absolutely nail on the head. I've had to delete reddit, as I just can't stomach some of the reactions on there. This summarises how I feel exactly Luke 000

Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 11/01/2026Give the man the flowers while he can still smell them. Keegan can't wait until 2030 or beyond. 010
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 17/11/2025Unless there's a dramatic change in form, it has to be Rashford over Gordon 000
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 09/11/2025Intensity appears to no longer be our identity. Second to every loose ball, making 50/50 duels into 30/70s, apologising for fouling players (Dan Burn's reaction for soft contact gets him in trouble twice). It's been the antithesis of everything we have been at our best 000
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 05/11/2025Really nice to see us playing direct even with Woltemade on the pitch. Need to see more of that. 000
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 28/10/2025They put him in an almost impossible spot too. With the taxing of the pen, they might need him again tomorrow 000
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 18/10/2025Add another one to the list of teams who get the better of us by playing through a proper number 10. That straight ball through our midfield into Rutter or Welbeck is on every single time and we haven't adjusted to it at all so far. 000
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 04/05/2025Agree with a lot of this. Think suggestions that there's disinterest are off base though. It's clear that Isak is playing injured, he's far less mobile than we've seen him. Bruno is not an athlete in the same way as Joelinton, Tonali or even Willock and it shows when we have no ability to rotate him 000
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 31/03/2025...the biggest game. We'd never broken through that glass ceiling. I'll never feel that way again about this team. Now, I can genuinely believe we can win in any game against any opponent. The final changed everything for me in terms of mindset. 000
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 31/03/2025I've got two if you'll indulge me... I'm so pleased it's this group that got to experience that. Burn, Schar, Longstaff, Krafth, Wilson. It feels more special than it would have with a few more years of big spends I used to feel that, though I knew we could win big games, we'd never come through.. 100
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 21/03/2025Don't think they've got the tone right with this. Registrations, pots, any suggestions of limitations to how many people can attend. I'm a ST holder so I'd be in the first pot but this event isn't for me - I was there on Sunday. It should be hundreds of thousands crowding the streets cheering on 020
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 09/02/2025If we can't get someone like Jonathan David on a free in the summer this may be our best bet 000
Jack Carlyle @jackacarlyle.bsky.social · 16/01/2025If Schar is fit I'd play him over Botman. Only 2 days rest and an early kick off. He's just back from an ACL tear. It'll take Botman months to be back to pre-injury, I wouldn't take the risk if possible 000
