JFC , I AM OLD. In elementary classes, kids had heavy braces from polio. Measles = dark rooms, no reading because it was thought eyes would be affected. We talked to siblings playing outside, through closed windows. WE WERE CONTAGIOUS. It caused lifetime physical problems. Some died. We cried.
