A recent pic of the juvenile Harpy Eagle, this was done as a small thank you for my in-laws who organised the visit. I have a few more ideas roughed up and looking forward to getting back to soon.

After a recent early morning airport drop off, I continued down to Wexford for the first time in years. I was delighted to find a juvenile American Golden Plover at Tacumshin, before a harrier spectacle. The male Northern Harrier joined a few Hen and Marsh Harriers as the sun set.
The juvenile American Golden Plover appeared to drop in to the lake shore infront of me as I scanned for waders. Apparently a new bird, as there hadn't been one seen in over a week. Along with American Goldem Plover, 2 Semi-p, White-rumped and Curlew Sandpipers, Little Stints and a fly over Lesser Yellowlegs made for a great afternoon. After a long wait, the male Northern Harrier arrived in to roost. The light had almost gone when it settled infront of me with another bird. Unfortunately it was too dark to make out if it was the juvenile Northern also present.

It is remarkable that, in a region as heavily studied as the Mediterranean, it is still possible to discover places were a "raptor river" takes place tinyurl.com/mu77m7hc Mellone et al. 2025. Akritas Cape: a new raptor migration hot spot in the Balkans. Bird Conservation International

www.raptoridentification.com/a-focus-on-j... I have been glacially slow at pulling these thoughts together on the vagrancy/ID of these Nearctic Hare-footed Stunners. I hope it’s of use to some very lucky person one day somewhere in Europe. thanks for your time.

Excited to be doing the Yorkshire Big Day on Saturday with our Dirty Habicht team @grafhamwbirder.bsky.social @yorkscoastnature.bsky.social and Dunc Poyser. We'll be trying to beat the record we set in 2019 of 156 bird species in 24 hours. We'll be donating to the Jack Snipe tracking project too.

Of all the things I was hoping to find today in Georgia today, a Bateleur was not one of them! This juv drifted in from Azerbaijan and over David Gareja before returning that way. First for Azerbaijan and 3rd for Georgia!

If you were to explain a feathers colouration as ‘bolognese stained tupperware’ is this acceptable? But you know what I mean right. 🤷‍♂️ #reviewingmynotesinshame 😆

After getting decent views of the Pale-legged Leaf quite early, it was back to home turf, and the Welwick Pallid Harrier gave amazing views, just a shame I only had my phone. Watched it gain height, go east and descend into the 'Kilnsington' area, where it was then seen later on. #UKBirding
