it's not that I don't want the franchise to continue. i think the writers of aai + 5&6 did a pretty good job at writing good character interactions, and there are many things from 5&6 that i think had potential to be good if they were executed better. I like all aa games despite everything+

in any case, deep down i hope they announce aa7 someday as a way to resurrect the franchise, and after that we start getting prequels and spin offs. and a potential tgaa sequel or spin off maybe. i would like that, even if we have to go through another shitty mainline game

anyway, sorry for the rant. I'm just so mad that we're losing good art to the slop machine. This was an amazing studio with amazing games, and I'm sure they're still capable of making them! but instead they prefer to make worse games with more content using genAI. Fucking pointless and disappointing

they start rushing them with AI that they don't even try to hide. It's so sad. We got another FL but it didn't have the vibes of the previous one, we're getting another PL that probably won't be as good as the rest of the franchise, and that will be the case with every game they release from now on

and like, it makes me so sad that this is the way it is now. It's like pre 2020s L-5 was an entirely different studios. We went from beautiful games to this AI slop mess. They keep trying to make games bigger than they can handle, and to avoid delaying them even more than they already do+

i remember back in like... 2021? before they started announcing a bunch of stuff (i think before the first layton NWOS and Fantasy Life i nindirect), people were talking about the studio closing down or not releasing games outside of japan or something like that... and i was so sad about that!!+
