I contain literary multitudes. ... They *may*, admittedly, tend towards being cat shaped.
Screenshot of an Audible library on a phone, dark mode, showing six audiobook entries:
1. The Book of the Night with Moon by Diane Duane — currently playing, 4h 8m left. Cover shows a black cat under an ornate title.
2. Starter Villain by John Scalzi — Finished. Cover is a close-up of a grey tabby's face. Tagged "LESEN & HÖREN" (read & listen).
3. Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami, translated by Philip G[abriel] — Finished. Cover is a stylized illustration of a figure with an umbrella above and a cat walking below, split across pink and green panels.
4. The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov, read by Julian Rhind-Tutt, new translation by Michael Karpelson — Finished. Cover shows cartoonish figures including a large black cat holding a pistol.
5. Kitty Cat Kill Sat by Argus — Finished. Cover shows a cat in a spacesuit-style frame against a starfield.
6. The Book of the Night with Moon again, shown as the currently-active player entry at the bottom.

The two kinds of reaction(mass)less pseudo-drives: fans & scales Electrostatic lifter? Fan. EmDrive? Scale. Mach-effect thruster? Scale. Q-thruster? Usually scale, occasionally fan. One kind of idiot forgets what they're pushing against. The other builds a shitty thermometer.
A tweet from Deep Tech Week (@deeptechweek) dated May 9, 2026. The text identifies Dr. Charles Buhler, Lead Scientist of the NASA Electrostatics Physics Laboratory and CEO of Exodus Propulsion, presenting a discovery of a "new force" behind the Biefeld-Brown Effect and "Non-Newtonian propulsion" at an event in NYC.
The accompanying image shows Dr. Buhler on stage next to a technical slide titled "Possible Explanation of the generation of Force: Classical Theory." The slide displays a series of equations involving potential energy in electrostatic systems (U = \frac{\epsilon_0}{2} \int E^2 \, d\tau) and the chain rule for derivatives. It concludes with a formula for Force (F) that splits into two components: "Electrostatic Pressure Force" and a highlighted box labeled "DiVinE Force ('Divergence in E')." The bottom of the slide includes a "Confidential and Proprietary" watermark for Exodus Propulsion Technologies Inc.

I still find physical marking & reviewing has a quality all its own and helps with understanding/commenting/perhaps writing something supplemental (especially if you need/want to doodle maths or code).
The image depicts a workstation during an intensive editing or research phase. The focus is on the stack of papers, which appears heavily organized or cross-referenced with many colorful tabs—a typical sight when working on manuscripts, legal documents, or academic research.

Part of me still feels it's depressing I have expensive equipment for astrophotography, incl. motorised telescope Another part of me is like: yeah, but with all that, you did it maybe once a year... now you've done it every night cloud cover allowed. Late life lesson I wish I'd learned earlier.

A cartoon drawing of Mudkip — a small, round, bipedal creature with pale blue skin, a large head, and a long flat tail. Two dark-blue fins stick up from the top of its head like ears, and orange gill-frills fan out from its cheeks. It is dressed formally: a black top hat tilted on one fin, a monocle on a chain over one eye, a red bow tie, and a black tailcoat with buttons down the front. The style is clean digital art on a plain white background. The overall effect is a small amphibious creature cosplaying as a Victorian gentleman.

I honestly feel like the Disney Cars universe has incredibly rich inspirational potential for unhinged historical tankiness. It would be an incredibly *Italian* bit to be an irredentist Bourbon legitimist while also being ride or die for Ferrari, a symbol of the unified industrial Italian machine.
Interior of the Cars Land ride queue at Disneyland, designed to look like an Italian garage or trattoria. A large framed antique map of Italy from before Italian unification, titled "ITALY with the Islands of SICILY, SARDINIA & CORSICA," hangs centrally on a brick wall under a pressed-tin ceiling. To the left are vintage Italian travel posters, a chrome car wheel on a stack of tires, and a sign partially reading "TO." To the right of the map, a yellow Ferrari logo with a prancing horse is displayed among rows of small white business cards mounted on the brick wall. In the foreground, a stainless steel counter holds stacks of paperwork, a bottle, and an organizer filled with colored folders.

Remember to always use protection and to smash atoms responsibly.
Illustrated poster in 1970s industrial-manual style, titled "HAZARDOUS ENVIRONMENT SUIT MK. II" in bold orange text across the top. A subtitle reads "Printed for the department of Anomalous Materials Black Mesa Research Facility June 1977. Includes fully coloured illustrations by Jacob Briggs." The central figure is a person in a brown and orange HEV (Hazardous Environment) suit from the Half-Life video game series, wearing a helmet with a ventilation hose, the lambda logo on the chest, and holding a crowbar in the right hand while making a peace sign with the left. A diagonal teal and dark blue stripe runs behind the figure on an orange background. The right edge reads "REPAIR MANUAL" vertically. Bottom left shows a stylized Black Mesa-style logo with a sunset silhouette, and a banner at the bottom reads "DELIVERING THE FUTURE."

A screenshot of a social media post by Newt Gingrich (@newtgingrich) that reads: "Instead of fighting over a 21-mile-wide bottleneck forever, we cut a new channel through friendly territory. A dozen thermonuclear detonations and you’ve got a waterway wider than the Panama Canal, deeper than the Suez, and safe from Iranian attacks."

Below the text is a map of the Persian Gulf and the United Arab Emirates. A thick, straight, brown corridor illustrates the proposed artificial channel cutting directly across the landmass to the Gulf of Oman, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. The massive trench carves directly through populated areas, passing over or extremely close to cities like Ras Al Khaimah, Dibba, Khor Fakkan, and Fujairah. The map visualizes the immense geographic scale and catastrophic local destruction that would be caused by the "dozen thermonuclear detonations" required to excavate the waterway.

"We were being pushed by clients as to who the big seller was," Skirrow said.
"The speculation was that it could be from the US Treasury," he added, noting that the government has previously intervened in other markets, such as currencies.
Rapidan Energy Group, a consultancy founded by former White House energy adviser Bob McNally, said this week that while such a move by the government would be "unprecedented", it was clear "the idea of the US Treasury selling front-month crude futures" was getting "more attention than usual".
"Given the current panic situation," Rapidan analysts wrote in a note for clients, "we cannot completely rule it out".
All four passages above are highlighted in yellow. Nuclear weapons aren't magic. As a nation state, your capacity and know how to produce them is a direct correlate of you having advanced industry and grad students to churn through. Even if they were magic, it would be a function of your magic schools. 🤷 Alt text missing from 1st post:
Excerpt from an opinion article advocating military escalation against Iran linked in the first post.
"What, then, should the Trump administration do? My prescription: Seize Kharg Island. Mine or blockade Iran's remaining ports. Destroy as much Iranian military capability as possible over the next week or two, including a second Midnight Hammer operation to destroy what's left of Iran's nuclear capacity and know-how. And threaten the regime with further bombing if it massacres its own citizens, mounts terrorist attacks abroad or returns to nuclear work.
That constitutes the most realistic path to victory at the lowest plausible price in lives, risk and treasure. And for all its admitted dangers, it gives Iran's people their best chance of winning their freedom. Not bad for a one-month war its critics warned would be another Iraq."

Very distinct [Sound: A breathy, sliding mechanical hiss] circulation and very regular [Sound: Fast, rhythmic tapping] and [Sound: Hard, distinct clicking] coil noises. 😅
The newer ones get slightly warm, tho, to the point where that is almost uncomfortable, at least without good auxiliary circulation. And inner diameter is a bit tighter than I'd like in most.

The setting is lit evenly, with visible wooden ceiling beams and a minimalist interior.

Two memes I felt compelled to make earlier today. Presented without further comment. 🤷
Four-panel coloured caricature comic featuring Benjamin Netanyahu and Donald Trump in a bedroom. Panel 1: Netanyahu, gesturing animatedly toward a sceptical Trump in a pink sleeveless dress, says "I have advised the United States to explore a number of regime changes." Panel 2: close-up of Trump's frowning face, caption "Did it work for any of them?" Panel 3: Trump leans toward a smirking Netanyahu who answers "No. It never does. I mean I help delude you people somehow into thinking it might, but it never does." Panel 4: close-up of Netanyahu grinning and adding "But... it might work for us, this time."Wide aerial view of an endless military convoy occupying every lane of a desert highway. Olive-drab tanks, armoured personnel carriers and Humvees line up in perfect columns that vanish into the horizon, while attack helicopters, tilt-rotor aircraft and fighter jets roar overhead in tight formation. Bold white meme text in block capitals frames the image: top line reads “JUST ONE MORE REGIME CHANGE IN THE MIDDLE EAST, BRO”, bottom line reads “PROMISE, BRO, THIS TIME IT WILL WORK”. The gargantuan force satirises repeated interventionist ambitions.
