Really pleased for Wakey. Terrific performance. Always loved a night out in Wakey as a lad. Should be a good night tonight #lufc

Probably reading this wrong but the Application Window for Clubs to apply for provisional licences to play in the EPL opens in Nov 26 & runs to Feb 2027. New Independent Regulator appears to have the power to resolve this once & for all? Is the regulator another OFWAT or does it have teeth? #lufc

Chelsea appear to think defending is optional #lufc

As Jason Cundy said on Talk Sport after the game, Farke is over achieving. Choose any of the financial metrics and you have the evidence. Was another great night ‘under the lights’. That said the Geordies were a shadow of what I expected. Still, they’ll always have the club TIFOs #lufc

Our massively changed 11 was better than Chelsea changed 11. Our first 11 pretty much held their own against Chelsea first 11. The problem was the bit in between & a dodgy penalty. Hopefully zero injuries ahead of a tough game v Geordies. Trafford motm without playing #lufc

j-mellor.bsky.social @j-mellor.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

Our 8 changes playing pretty much their first 11 2nd half shows we don’t have the squad depth to do what the top sides can. With our key players on the pitch we look decent again #lufc

Being a cautious sort of bloke my priority now is no injuries. We can’t compete without our best 11 or 12 fully fit and starting games #lufc

First time in many years we have a marquee signing in Trafford. We have great signings at CB and in Wilson one of last season’s top players outside the top 6. A marquee forward would be great but finding one at a bargain price must be tough. A full season outside the bottom 3 is fine for me #lufc

I’m sure Gnonto’s failed to impress when he’s been a starter and yet (a bit like Joseph - there’s a player in there) he’s somehow seen as an essential cog in the #lufc wheel?

Tough, tough game against a very good Brentford side. Easy to say we started the wrong 11 but fair play, 2 changes of shape, subs who made an impact and we had a game we might even have won. Good point. A reality check. Great to be back in the ground #lufc

Needed to score more in 100 balls than the Mancs in 75 & failed. Crawley watched on while batters at the opposite end mistimed shot after shot, were caught out but appeared to give no (captain’s) advice. Brook surely needs a period of reflection? Defeat snatched from the jaws of victory. #leedsfire

Suspect Trump’s interference did more harm than good for team USA - moved the spotlight away from the team & onto him (as ever) whilst producing an unnecessary distraction for the team as a whole. Poch left in a difficult position. Would have been better to lose with honour than with an asterisk.
