Sixteen year old me is giddy about the fact that that adult me stopped writing code for a second to put "Human Clay" into a brand new CD player. Adult me......

Turns out I was being generous: It was actually 50%. Literally. Six out of the twelve items when browsing for CDs under "rock" are rock salt or rock polish.

Enshittification du jour: Literally 1/3, 33%, of the rock CDs on Amazon are tumbler grit.

Is it too on-the-nose to put on the Backrooms while working on a resume for a potential lateral-ish move back to a former team?

My last couple student success jobs drilled into me "Do what's best for the student," so it's amazing how many posts on the state registrars' association message board are like "We're updating our process and debating between adding hot pokers or just lighting the hoops on fire. What do y'all do?"

As someone who grew up hearing "Lord willin'" a lot, it's kind of funny to me that non-Muslim Gen-Z are starting to use "inshallah" unironically.

I love how I pay for ad-free Apple Music, but second playlist on the top row of the home screen is always an obvious ad. Yesterday it was "Songs to Listen to in a Wendy's Parking Lot," created by Wendy's. Today it's that overrated millionaires' daughter whose parents bought her stardom.

Is Ted Lasso *actually* #1 on Apple TV, or is it just #1 because they force it on you after everything you watch, no matter how unrelated or how many times you say “recommend less” how often try to stop it from auto-playing?

I have a bad habit of never finishing Zelda games. They seem to have a pattern of starting out cute, then getting either super boring or feeling super unfair about 30% in, and then after that hurdle they’re the best game ever. But I’ve only ever gotten over that 30% hurdle for the Wilds era games.

If Copilot answered arithmetic questions like it answers technical questions. 🧑🏻‍💻Hey Copilot, what's 2+3? 🤖[1000 word essay on the history of arithmetic] 🧑🏻‍💻No, what's 2+3? 🤖[2000 words on prime numbers] 🧑🏻‍💻Not what I asked! 🤖[3000 words on Peano arithmetic], but what you're really asking is What's 2+3?

it is bonkers that everyone pushing the frontiers of computing has forgotten that the most important and useful thing about computers was, up until now, that they always produced the same output from the same inputs. that was the way we could honestly say computers are better than humans!

I know it’s common practice and tiny in the grand scheme of things, but I unlocked my laptop after lunch to find my login screen and wallpaper had been changed from black and white landscape photographs made myself on infrared film, to the college logo, and now I have lost every ounce of motivation.

Hey @bsky.app , age is a monotonically increasing function. (That means it only goes up.) There’s no reason to prompt me for it every time. And there’s even less reason to send me to the age verification data broker scam every time when you can already get my age range from my OS.

Just saw a listing on LinkedIn that started with “We’re not in the [type of food] business. We’re in the flavor business.” And I cringed at the AI slop, but then I remembered all the companies in 2019-2020 that said “We’re not a X company, we’re a tech company that does X.”
