Proud to see my name amongst Brummie giants on the huge art piece ‘Re-Union Jack’. It was made by local artist Clare Elizabeth using flags taken down from Birmingham lamp posts. The festival is on again tomorrow, please go and visit, get your passport stamped and join in the fun. #alrightbab

Good to see these enforcement officers out today in Moseley Village with the PCSOs. They also went to Oxford Road. I have asked for more patrols at evenings and weekends. I later had a briefing about A435 bus lane improvements which should help deal with the parking issues outside Java Roastery.

Great to meet Crafting Conversations today in Moseley Park & Pool and hear about their July programme. This group, run by volunteers, supports dozens of people every week. Today they had made community banners and their choir was performing as part of the city wide #healingartsproject

Very thankful for the mature tree canopy helping keep us cooler in Moseley Village today. 🥵😎 🌳 Huge shout out to Moseley in Bloom and local builder Maison House for fitting water butts to some of the businesses so we can water the planting under the trees.

Enjoying the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup England v Sri Lanka at Edgbaston. Also enjoying the Birmingham skyline and the reminder of how green our city is. I feel very lucky to live here.

Before anyone asks, it’s not a Banksy, but a cool new mural has appeared this afternoon in Moseley. I think we should call her Little Mo.

I’m in Chicago this week meeting my new baby granddaughter. We went for a walk along the Bloomingdale Trail aka Route 606. Makes me think how wonderful a sky line trail in Digbeth would be. the606.org

Getting my hair cut before heading to the council house to be sworn in at @bhamcitycouncil.bsky.social. Since @lizclemo.bsky.social & @david4bkh.bsky.social are no longer here am I the only cycling Cllr left in Brum? Will @brumgreens.bsky.social have some who join me utilising the bike racks?

With Cllr Mills & Mason at our last Councillor advice surgery tonight before the election on 7th May. Surgeries are really important for residents to explain issues face to face & a lot of people who come aren’t online or want to see us in person. We often go over time & never turn anyone away.

I received several complaints about cars being driven dangerously across the pavement and cycle path between Salisbury Road and Park Hill using it as a short cut. Pleased to see following my report the council has now installed bollards.

Lovely afternoon litter picking with my grandson and the Hazrat Mujaddid Alf-e-Sani Trust Masjid & Education Centre. 23 bags collected from nearby roads, the Carlton Memorial garden and Balsall Heath park. The Masjid are looking to organise monthly litter picks , get in touch if you can help.

Extra bike 🚲 racks have been installed in Moseley Village next to Boo Burger, on a piece of land I had to stop the council from selling off! I think this is a much better use than the inevitable car park it would have become.

I discovered new LED lamp posts have been put in Chantry Rd, Moseley. I asked one of the work guys who said they are told to place them 0.8 meters from the kerb side. He didn’t know the reason & could only speculate to stop them being knocked over by vehicles. Which seems a pathetic reason if true.

Good to see bikeability classes today. Roads like Park Hill, closed to through traffic, are ideal for kids to learn cycling skills. Makes me sad that yesterday BCC threw away the chance to deliver something similar in South Moseley by deferring the King’s Heath & Moseley Places for People scheme.

The Council contractors Kier are repainting the white markings on Moor Green Lane after it was resurfaced at the end of February. I had to escalate this several times as residents were reporting numerous drivers going the wrong way along the small section of dual carriageway.

Very happy day yesterday. I feel so privileged to have had a pre visit to our Moseley Village station with campaigners who have been working for this moment for many more years than I have. Never thought we’d see it but can’t wait until the first train on 7th April!

Good to be out with so many people today taking a stand against racism and division. Bullying tactics are not welcome here. If people have differences we talk and respect each other. We have so much more to unite us than to divide us.

Pleased to see residents have been out clearing the leaves. We are very lucky to have so many street and garden trees in Moseley but keeping the leaf fall out of drains and off pavements is a big job so it’s welcome that the community are helping out.

This morning Cllr Philip, Cllr dog Mason and I checked the drains on Wake Green Road near to Lench’s Close, where it flooded yesterday. We have taken photos and will ask for them all to be flushed out. We’ve also reported some bad pot holes near to the Warwick Court bus stop.

Very pleased the council is installing CCTV in Green Road at the ford & at the entrance to the recreation ground after numerous incidents of fly tipping, including in the river itself. Flytipping costs £1000’s to clear up & is hugely damaging to the environment. Let’s hope they catch someone.

I attended the first meeting of Friends of Bradford St community forum tonight. It made me think this must be how some of the groups in Moseley began years ago. It’s great to see residents & businesses coming together to support and shape their area rather than leaving it to faceless corporations.

I saw the waste containers in Pitmaston Court and outside Hamsa Mosque haven’t been emptied, so I’ll report them for collection. I also checked on some land in Sandford Rd where there is often fly tipping. Some building work has begun there so I shall check that out with planning.

Positive joint visit to meet residents in Woodnorton Drive, Moseley this morning, with the local housing officers, community safety & police teams following a shooting incident last month. Lots of issues raised but also good conversations about setting up a residents group and better communication.
