To be fair in MOST cases my 2060 worked fine, the only thing which was an absolute showstopper was when VRAM was stretched which won't be as big of a deal on a 4080. It's just a bit... delicate, and especially so for some stuff I rely on. Very much YMMV but AMD definitely more polished.

Yeah realistically I didn't really -want- to have to replace my RTX2060, it's still a good card even if it's VRAM starved, but when driver issues start to spontaneously not let me do my job for days at a time then it's kinda gotta go

it's kind of a funny one because supposedly a bunch of wine forks implement fixes for the wpf rendering issues, and those do indeed fix the language selection box but it always crashed immediately after with an xna invalid device error I am SO happy I don't need to mess with a VM for this any more

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Avalon.Graphics, DisableHWAcceleration DWORD with a value of 1 fixes the black UI elements, and it seems like the rest of it is just doing the dependencies dance with XNA and dotNet

The main thing I felt was that after the first one you know that the island missions are superflous and not where the 'real' building happens, so you're motivated to do the barest minimum there because none of it really matters, subsequently making it drag on really badly

Lack of a Switch 2 for Pokopia made me pick up DQB2 a while ago and I got around to finishing it yesterday Fun game, you can tell they learned a fair bit from it which they applied to Pokopia, though it does also look like they dialled some stuff back. Main story does drag quite a bit tho
