I don't even have words for just how cynical and absurd this is. Help obliterate a place, help displace most of its people with weapons and words - and for over a year - then, once the dust settles, act shocked in light of the entirely predictable outcome.

‘Incredibly moved’ by the Gulf states’ powerful letter—surely they’ll back it with action if the US proceeds with its settler-colonial takeover of Gaza. Right? …Right? No breath-holding here. It’s not like they’ve ever failed the Palestinian people before.

>15 months of genocide. 77 years of colonialism. 58 years of occupation. Yet violence against Palestinians continues to be framed as something that merely ‘emerges’ or ‘escalates’, with no accountability for those responsible. When the ceasefire came, too many forgot everything they saw and learned.

Israel always keeps an ace up its sleeve to justify its colonial abuses. The ceasefire’s content remains unclear, with mention of a hidden Appendix B withheld by Netanyahu’s cabinet. This secrecy paves the way for conveniently blaming Palestinians for any violations. t.co/FO62xnxbiN

If those talking about technology these days truly cared about protecting democracy, they wouldn’t just focus on regulating social media. They’d dig into what data feeds the algorithms—and how it’s collected. But questioning that means challenging capitalism, and that’s a huge no-go. t.co/3HahO2qkqa

With all humility (and some experience as an IR professor), I urge the world to stop seeing Trump, Musk, and Netanyahu as exceptions. They are symptoms of deeply flawed systems we’ve chosen to ignore. Focusing on them alone distracts from the structural issues enabling their rise and harm.

I get that part of the left wants to be proven right, but implying—even inadvertently—that Trump is better on Palestine or TikTok is reckless. Playing into his rhetoric, even indirectly, is misguided AND profoundly dangerous. Let’s focus on advancing liberation, not on flawed geopolitical takes.

Thrilled to see more tech discussions, even if driven by masculinistic energy and gestures (also banning TikTok as ‘national security’). Yet a tad disappointed by the missed chance to centre digital rights and broader/global dynamics.

Heartbreaking to see Gaza endure intensified attacks—62 Palestinians killed in 24 hours. This cruel pattern is all too familiar, yet we cling to -very fragile- hope that a ceasefire will finally bring relief to those suffering under the weight of endless violence. www.972mag.com/gaza-ceasefi...

All deaths are tragic, but the most heartbreaking are those lost right before a ceasefire. Imagine surviving months of bombardment, disease, starvation, and displacement, only for a drone operator or pilot to take your life in the final moments—senseless killing until the very last second.

The announcement of a ceasefire is overshadowed by ongoing bombings in Gaza and attacks in the WB. History shows Israeli violence intensifies before such agreements take effect—and apartheid will deepen elsewhere in historic Palestine. Decolonisation is not a metaphor, nor is it a paltry ceasefire.

¡Ah, escuchad a palestin@s, siempre!

Late to Susan Faludi, but amazed at her foresight. In Backlash (1991), she warned us: every gain (and they’re not as big as we think) sparks a greater, scarier counterattack against ‘radicalism’. Reading it today feels eerily prescient—she mapped the struggles we’re living through decades ago.

Musk and Zuckerberg’s actions highlight how Big Tech mirrors the personal worldviews of its leaders. This isn’t just about speech—it’s about who is deemed worthy of safety and dignity, reinforcing global hierarchies where some lives are treated as disposable, both online and offline.
