I love your work! So glad you post here! From a fellow ceramicist who has only recently managed to touch clay again for the first time in forever…thank you for inspiring me to dare to post a pic of this little pot I made!
A leather-hard, brown clay pinched pot on a brown banding wheel. The pot’s sides are perpendicular to its base and the rim has been carved with mountain ridgelines in mind. The outer walls of the pot feature textured wavy lines flowing diagonally between the top and the base, reminiscent of the motion of submerged sea grasses. Pot and photo by me.

Ayyyyyy …. I hear you. May I offer this quote from Nelson Mandela’s Long Walk to Freedom? It has sustained me through many a dark moment and I needed to reconnect with it today as well.
“I am fundamentally an optimist.
Whether that comes from nature or nurture, I cannot say. Part of being optimistic is keeping one's head pointed toward the sun, one's feet moving forward. There were many dark moments when my faith in humanity was sorely tested, but I would not and could not give myself up to despair.
That way lay defeat and death.”

A great read from @juliusgoat.bsky.social , plus it delivered the belly laugh I desperately needed on this miserable morning!

The text I highlighted from the excerpt is inside the <>:

<As example, let's talk about Senate Minority Leader and seventeen-time cover boy of Glasses Pushed Down magazine Chuck Schumer, > who best represents the present of this beached whale of a party that best represents this beached whale of a country.

I so very much needed these words from Katie Farris this morning. Chapter 8, “Hope and Grief Can Coexist,” of Let This Radicalize You, by Kelly Hayes and Mariame Kaba opens thusly:
From Chapter 8, “Hope and Grief Can Coexist” (Let This Radicalize You, by Kelly Hayes and Mariame Kaba)

Hope and Grief Can Coexist

“Why write love poetry in a burning world?
To train myself, in the midst of a burning world,
to offer poems of love to a burning world.”

It is a whole entire massive effort to cling to hope as the desecrations accumulate and snowball. Hope most certainly is a discipline (thank you @prisonculture.bsky.social— I think of your words so often). And, in dark times Madiba’s wisdom always warms my soul: 1/3
Black & white photo of Nelson Mandela, smiling at the camera and holding his hands together in front of his chest. The image contains the following words:

For #bloomscrolling: I took this pic in Altadena back in the day. This house burned in the recent firestorm. Glad I memorialized so much beauty from there. Wish I knew the name of this plant. Might you know, @boblovessucculents.bsky.social ?
This pic shows a close up of a ballet-pink flower with a yellow center that’s bursting out in front of a couple of long vertical succulent-ish leaves, one of which sports the bud of a future flower near its tip. In the background we get a glimpse of the wooden wall of an old shed and a couple of wooden garden tool handles leaning against it.

#bloomscrolling is balm for the soul!!! Thank you Elena! Does anyone know how to make a feed with a hashtag? Also, as an experiment I am adding the words morning walk to see if this post will show up in that feed, as I did take this pic under those circumstances.
The primary focus of this pic is a blooming red nasturtium with drops of rain on its petals. A bud peeks out behind it. All of this against a backdrop of round, veined, green nasturtium leaves.

Hard to breathe… but sharing some goodness with this dog pic: happy to have been able to host him for a few days until he got adopted.
Chunky brindled French Bulldog (?) with his pink tongue hanging out. He is sitting on tiled floor waiting for me to pet him again.

Sharing some beauty…
Flowering orchids (some yellow, some pink) growing between the branches of a tree trunk in front of a concrete block wall.
