I read recently that only about 5% of the US population can perform a single pull-up with strict form. That can’t be true – surely? I can knock off at least 15-20 pull ups without too much trouble. I'm stunned that people can't manage even one.

When I was 14, this poster was on the wall at my local library. And I used to see it - and immediately get tingles! But I was so paranoid that someone would notice I only snuck quick glances. It felt 'wrong' - because society had made me think it was wrong. And I carried those feelings for years.

I always hate it when a couple starts calculating their share of the bill at the end of a group dinner. We had friends who used to do this all the time when we were out with them – and it’s so tacky. Just split the bill 50-50 – and if you ordered significantly more, cover the tip. Right?

I know zoos and marine parks are a lot more regulated than they used to be - but I still really struggle with animals in captivity - and taking part in live shows. So I'm always stunned when some of the smart, empathic people I know ask me to join them when they go visit one of these places...
