The Democratic Way

They whisper in your ear
"It'll be alright"
And it slows the tears.
And you sleep at night.

They whisper in your ear
"We'll make it better."
And it calms your fears.
You trust the bloodletter.

They whisper in your ear
"We'll get it next time"
And it makes it clear
It will not be fine.

They whisper in your ear
"Just wait four years"
It confirms your fears
And come again the tears

They whisper in your ear
"It's so deplorable"
The old rules they still adhere
It's so abhorrible

They whisper in your ear
"We can stop it"
But it's shockingly clear
That is absolutely bullshit.
