In the meantime, I've just wrapped up the research for the next article, and I'm hoping to have it written and published for you very soon. I'm really excited to explore this particular topic (involving some very well-known Canadian wrestlers - hint hint!) and can't wait for you all to read it!

Ultimately, it was more than I could take on at this time. Rather than force it, I've decided to shelve it for now and return to it when I'm ready to give it the attention it deserves.

The truth is, I'd started writing an article and wanted to take a big swing with it, covering several years and including personal stories and anecdotes from that period of my life. As it developed, it grew into something much bigger than I initially anticipated.

A quick update from IT'S A DVD PRODUCT. It's been a minute since you've heard from me and I'm sorry about that. I intended for this to be a place to remember and reminisce about the 2000s indy scene, not just the two pieces I've published up until now. That, I hope, is going to be changing shortly.

After a long delay, my latest video is up taking a look at maybe the biggest Primetime Animated Flop of all time. A show that despite having Brad Bird, Tim Burton, and Stephen Spielberg all involved at some point, absolutely stunk youtu.be/fEu4j6Xm_Ho

Looking to jog my memories as I write my next article. If you attended King of Trios, what are some of your favorite memories? It doesn't have to be matches or in ring moments. Id like things you saw or did as part of the community of wrestling fans that attended for the weekend.

If you haven't had a chance to check out my latest article yet... I take a look at the time when @ringofhonor.bsky.social gave its fans a rare opportunity to name a new tag team. They ultimately decided on The Air Devils. ...how the hell do YOU think it went?

The new one is live! In 2005, Ring of Honor let its fans name a new tag team. Spoiler: Everyone hated it. I explored ROH's relationship with its fans and what happens when a fanbase full of critics is suddenly asked to make a creative decision. substack.com/@itsadvdprod...

Side note: I was genuinely surprised to discover TPWW is still online today. Kinda cool that it still exists, even if it's just a wrestling news aggregator these days.

When you think of wrestling websites in the early 2000s, which one immediately comes to mind? While researching my next article, a side quest led me down an Internet Archive rabbit hole that ended at TPWW - basically my homepage for much of the early 2000s, especially after Raw.

One of my favorite parts of researching the 2000s indy scene is rediscovering how interconnected everything was. You start looking into one match and suddenly you're deep into promotions, wrestlers and message board posts you forgot existed. Unrelated: Who remembers Quiet Storm? #StormCradleDriver

If you enjoyed the episode about Samoa Joe vs Necro Butcher, I also wrote about how DVDs, message boards & word of mouth helped turn this match into a legend. It's my first article, so please be kind. Unlike Necro, I cant take a whole lot of punishment. 🔗 open.substack.com/pub/itsadvdp...

Really had a blast watching this. Hearing Joe & Necro talk about what it was like with such clarity was really cool. There are so many moments from the 2000s indy scene that would make great Dark Side of The Ring episodes. I hope this was the first of many.

IT'S A DVD PRODUCT's first article is live! I wrote about two men who made wrestling feel dangerous, the message boards that convinced us it was real, and why deathmatch wrestling can be legitimate art. I also poked fun at my wife's Titanic obsession. I'm sure it'll be fine.

While many of today's biggest stars like CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Samoa Joe and Tyler Black (Seth Rollins) first made their names in rings like these, their stories are only part of a much larger one.
