These are beautiful, Maya. Your drawings have a strong sense of volume and depth. I didn't quite understand before when you told me you were doing character layouts but now I totally get it, and I think this step is vitally important! I still have much to learn about animation haha.

I think my purchase of the little Frankie plush keychain shows my favoritism toward her! ❤️ I love her design and I’m interested in seeing how her outwardly “optimistic”/“upright” coping strategies have taken a toll on her. But the second episode has also made me more curious in Andi!

Haha yeah it’s us who can’t speak Spanish. For me, it came about bc my grandparents made a concerted effort to ensure my mom & her sisters only spoke English so they could leave Falfurrias, a poor TX town. If you spoke Spanish like the majority, you’d never leave and stay in poverty.

Even if it’s cringe to over-think one’s isolation from their ancestral cultures or inability to perfectly fit into them, I sort of admire that desperate longing those people have because I’m personally so apathetic, myself haha. I know I’m a No Sabo chicana but for me it’s “whatever.”

I got the standard litter genie this time since previously I had the jumbo, but it was always difficult to get the jumbo liners. The standard litter genie’s design is way more adept at sealing odor, too. I can’t believe I’m excited about a feces trash can LMAO.

Mom throwing away the litter pan and litter genie I was previously using for Boss in favor of her preferred litter machine was actually a blessing in disguise… now that the litter machine failed, I’ve replaced the pan and genie with newer, better ones. 💅✨

Speaking of HR, I’ve been unemployed for so long that I feel like I don’t know anything and live in fear that I’ll never be hired, I have major imposter syndrome. But I spent a lot of time recently in HR and employment law subs and I couldn’t help speaking on a few issues/questions from employees.

And maybe I'll never be in animation like I imagined I would in my late teens or early 20s but I'd still like to help somehow someday. I'd still like to do animation cleanup or help animators/people in animation in whatever way I can. Maybe HR? haha.

I think no matter what career I do in life, I will do it thoroughly and do it with the intention of helping people as best I can. I pursued animation with that goal in mind. I wanted to be helpful in the pipeline and reach audiences' hearts meaningfully.

As for family medicine, I think it would be achievable. I have two cousins who are doctors and scientists, you could say a love of science and curiosity about the body runs in the family. Being disabled/chronically ill myself has made me more curious and taught me a lot, too.

I originally wanted to pursue psychology when I was at UT Denver at 18 years old, but I wasn't at a good place mentally myself and I thought, "Who am *I* to help others when I'm like *this*?" Then I'd learn later that at least half psych majors are like that lmfao.

I still need and want to try succeeding at HR because I know I can do it if/when this job market stops being complete ass, but I think if in the hypothetical situation I wanted to try my hand at a third career change, it would be either family medicine or psychology.

I’ve had a similar conversation with a friend recently how thinking about the future in a large sense is too heavy and depressing. I find more satisfaction and strength to move forward by just focusing on my daily responsibilities and seeking hobbies that are meditative/projects (like sewing).
