Well, I managed to do a little bit more painting this weekend. Some more progress on the Demera ladies. Finally finished my aggressor chaplain and my first completed daughter of Khaine. Fun times. #ZZZ #Nerdling

Two work in progress miniatures of Nicole and Anby Demera from the game Zenless Zone Zero.

A dark angels chaplain in aggressor armour.

A Warhammer daughters of Khaine blood stalker. She has a red and blue snake body and a dark green bow.

I really want to be excited about #New40k, but all of the news so far basically seem to be an even deeper dive into 40k for competitive players than 10th edition is. And that just doesn't excite me.

I refused to buy codex space bird pirates… 10th edition has been a total wash for me. I remain unconvinced about 11th. However, I have started a spearhead.

They’re such nice brushes, I love mine!

I'm gonna have to go with no... and I doubt you'd want it anyway.

In continuing enjoyment and heightening écœurement following the DoK reveal this week I decided to finish my doomfire witches. Not exactly how I would have done them if I’d had a couple of units of witch elves to play with, but I’m content. #Warhammer #Nerdlings

A unit of five converted doomfire warlocks but now with female faces and breastplates. Unpainted but built. They are face on and slightly out of focus, sorry.

A unit of five doomfire witches from a forward and above angle to see more of the conversion work.

So today has not involved painting but I did treat myself to my first AoS spearhead… gonna try daughters of Khaine, I loved my witch elf army in WFB. However, the doomfire warlocks have to go. So here’s my first attempt at a female version. #Warhammer #nerdlings

Image shows a daughters of Khaine doomfire warlock converted to be a female miniature. Basically a very angry lady on a nightmare steed.

Carrying on with experiments in glazing and layers on my @weprintminiatures.com Nicole and Anby. Whilst I was quite disheartened last time these are starting to come together and I’m much happier. #nerdling #AnbyLovesBurgers

A work in progress of a miniature of Anby Demara from the game Zenless Zone Zero. She is probably less than half done but is my favourite character in the game.

A work in progress of the character Nicole Demara from the game Zenless Zone Zero. She is partially painted but finally has her signature pink hair.

let's be honest, one of many reasons why certain people desperately wanted us to.

Ithkra (He/Him) @ithkra.bsky.social · 11/02/2026

It would be a shame if @alexhorne.bsky.social didn't see this... Just saying...

Ithkra (He/Him) @ithkra.bsky.social · 11/02/2026

I think it is important for you to know this, and I suspect I might get in trouble if she finds out. But Matilda has been my daughter's comfort movie ever since we introduced her to it around the age of 2. I know for a fact it is her most watched thing. You have made her life a better place. Thanks.

Thanks, I’m enjoying painting larger scale models. These are from @weprintminiatures.com

I’ve been using them all weekend. They’re lush.

So with Tau I can get it down to 6. Shadowsun Coldstar commander Broadside Riptide Storm surge Ghostkeel No enhancements, 995 points.

I really need to get around to putting some transfers on Arial... But I don't know if I should do panel lining first... and that scares me.

Ithkra (He/Him) @ithkra.bsky.social · 06/02/2026

So then, inspired by @roguehobbies.bsky.social video about glazing and my new Ruby Brushes from @rubyspaintstudio.bsky.social I know that I need some more smoothing on Anby’s cheeks and stomach, but I’m quite happy with how Nicole’s sheer stocking is turning out. Thoughts? #nerdling

My super exciting box of Ruby’s signature six paint brushes. They’re next to a keyboard.

A miniature of Nicole Demara from Zenless Zone Zero, she’s barely painted.

A close up picture of Nicole’s leg trying to show the very simplistic glazing on her stocking on her left leg. I’m proud of it.

A miniature of Anby Demara from Zenless Zone Zero. She’s barely painted but is still my favourite character in the game.

ok, so watched all the way through, and the video is brilliant, thank you. I'm probably going to have to revisit to try and understand glazing faces, but I think I understand enough to try something now. Watch out for results!

I can’t recommend this store, these artists or these brushes highly enough. And it’s a great giveaway.

Ye Shunguang is a brilliant character, I like her a lot. I was hoping to be able to use the guaranteed S rank to get Silver Squad Anby... but I don't think I'm going to get enough polychrome to get the pull...

Ithkra (He/Him) @ithkra.bsky.social · 25/01/2026

oh, there is a LOT more to catch up on. But bring tissues for all of the season 2 section, they really brought a lot of emotion to the story!

Ithkra (He/Him) @ithkra.bsky.social · 25/01/2026

Just finished a new playthrough of Tomb Raider from the reboot. And I'm still blown away by how incredible the game is, how much I get lost enjoying the incredible story and phenomenal graphics. Thank you @rhi.bsky.social , I love the game, and I'm off to play Rise next.

I admit it, I’m weak, but I’m my defence @weprintminiatures.com had a sale and I saw my best girl Anby from #ZZZ. I couldn’t leave her without her best girl… So anyway, next painting adventure will be Anby and Nicole and I’m quite excited!

Some painting success for this #nerdling. Master Percival of the 7th Company (known as Percy due to the limited skills of the artificer painting names on their armour) and interrogator chaplain Bedevire (nearly based). Thanks to @dawnellenhodgson.bsky.social for naming Percy!

Master Percival is a kitbashed aggressor captain in bone white armour with a large power sword in their right hand. They stand on a lace themed base and are resting the tip of the sword on a rock.

Interrogator Chaplain Bedevire is standing atop a black rock on an unfinished lava base. They wear aggressor armour and have a long handled Crozius Arcanum in the right hand. From their backpack a brightly coloured banner with black trim is hanging from a cross pole. They have a lurid scar across their right eye and an artificial left hand. This is a marine who has seen some serious action.

Ithkra (He/Him) @ithkra.bsky.social · 09/11/2025

Simply stunning. There's something very special about wearing clothes or outfits that you've made with your own hands isn't there? These photos look incredible though.

Ithkra (He/Him) @ithkra.bsky.social · 09/11/2025

She looks incredible! great work, I really love the reflections points on her eyes!

Ithkra (He/Him) @ithkra.bsky.social · 31/10/2025

Little bit more work on some dark angels this week. Got one more big question now. What am I going to try and do with the chaplain’s back banner? There’s kudos available if you can work out which kit the feathers on the master are from. #nerdlings

Ithkra (He/Him) @ithkra.bsky.social · 19/10/2025

Also been making some progress on my Dark Angels. A bit of Belial, but also my Gravis Master kitbash. #nerdlings

The miniature of Belial, master of the Deathwing. He’s in standard colours but unfinished.

A kitbashed Gravis Master of the Dark Angels. He wears bone white armour with a large sword and a red left fist with a gun.

Entirely unfinished.

It’s been a bitty weekend for painting. But I picked up the brushes and made a little tiny bit more progress on my @weprintminiatures.com pile. This one is fun to experiment on.

A samurai style miniature in a cat mask painted with purple flesh and red armour with gold details. It is very much a work in progress.

That sounds sub optimal… have you checked the fuse?

Ithkra (He/Him) @ithkra.bsky.social · 17/10/2025

OK... so bear with me... Last week @andycruns.bsky.social showed us a short story, and I loved it... and it finally pushed me into writing a story that had been bubbling in my head for a while. I enjoyed writing it, but I'm a bit nervous about showing my writing to others. Anyway, hope you like it.

My last post notwithstanding, the person I'm most excited to have met today was @madelinedyer.bsky.social, who was so interesting to talk to about writing and her books that I bought one series on the spot. Finding someone who deliberately writes LGBTQIA+ fiction is always joyful. #ReadingIsLife

So, today at Comic-Con in sunny Plymouth I had the joy of meeting Danny John Jules and continuing my ever expanding collection of Red Dwarf autographs. He was charming, funny and late, so I feel some connection there on one ground at least.

Statue adventures continue! Today I’ve been working on creating an aged lichen effect on one statue whilst trying to push how clean the new statue looks. I think it’s working. Why yes, that is a @roll1toexplode.bsky.social sticker on top of my wet palette, thanks for noticing. #nerdlings

Two statues stand on black plinths.

On the right a figure wears heavy armour and clutches a sword in both hands point downwards. They are painted as if they are a clean and new stone.

On the left a feminine figure holds a tall staff and has their eyes covered. They are painted as if aged and dirty stone covered in lichen.

Why yes that is a Roll 1 To Explode sticker on top of my wet palette.

Agreed, I’m looking forward to aging one of the statues up.
