I had some trouble resetting my PIN because of the missing email and then the new one wouldn't work and the whole verification system died. I did get put through to my local library and the woman said “this is because of Libby, right?” and sounded exhausted.

Two of my most used apps but @libbyapp.com is creating waves. They're finally adding some verification to the app and Auckland Libraries are swamped. It's years since I've laid eyes on my card and I've moved house so I'm guessing it's gone. The library had dropped my email address 🤷‍♀️

Yep, but as a woman I've been raised to look for predatory behaviour and find ways to avoid it. That would mean recognising you're at risk and carrying ID. The rest of just avoid the US altogether but if you live there you don't have that luxury.

My Gmail gets used everywhere, our business relies on ads. I login to so many websites using Google login. I don't know how what tools the websites I use in their backends and I'd probably have to ditch the Chrome browser (and the other Chromium browsers). At least I can keep my phone - for now

Google is more than a search engine. Their ads drive customers to our business. My Gmail address is everywhere. Their login utility is on thousands of websites. Their databases drive websites. You'd have to bin your fitbit, uninstall waze, and lets hope your phone isn't Android.

Given how quickly one can buy a domain, hosting and have a forum up and running I don't see this working. Slack and Discord are even quicker. Telegram and Signal? I'm not hearing anything! Unless they have some way of stopping these unmoderated social media sites they're on a hiding to nothing.

I don't own one but my first try saw me cycling up a long steep hill with my phone in one hand - I doubt I could have ridden up at all on a regular bike. Then I realised I had run out of time and needed to get back. I cranked up the power and in 30 minutes traversed a city. Game changers.
