Oh Lord, so silent in your changeless love,
when we too often fall beneath the spell
of feeling life's incessant fashioning.
Caught up in chafing problems we reprove
you, not ourselves, that from your wealth above
no further intimation comes to swell
our soul's contentment, and vainly striving
abandon the dependence you approve.

Yet these proud peaks, in snowcapped majesty,
remain, when hidden by the rising mist,
dispensing endless blessing boundlessly
to feed parched plains. Why should we then insist
on unremitting evidence of grace

Passed on a horse chestnut sapling which kindly grew when planted in a pot in our garden. It first sprouted in 2020, so now it will continue growing in a Charvil park to commemorate all who suffered during the COVID pandemic.
