The two photos look very different, the brighter one is full of the sort of artifacts I see when I brighten photos whereas the darker one looks less or unedited.

This stuff was all getting burnt anyway, so not much difference. That's the whole point of extracting it.

Engines that only need to last 2000 km should intrinsically be massively cheaper and easier to make than ones built for normal aviation.

Waiting in line for days to fill your tank and you don't have enough to run the heater will be fun when it's -20 out. Fun to watch, point, and laugh at, at least.

I hate Trump nearly as much as anyone does but most of the Trump voters would be pro-Ukraine if Trump were. They are just following the cult leader wherever he leads.

The only people dumber than tankies are the far right.

I'm leftist and it even completely baffles me. I can only guess the tankie thing is some sort of lizard brain, pathological western self-loathing or guilt kicking in which is, in turn, amplified and funded by Russian fascists. They love Islamic terrorists who would kill them on first sight as well.

DSA and Trump, in yet another affirmation of Horseshoe Theory both support the world's preeminent fascist leader, Vladimir Putin.

Occupying the spit at the very tail of a long, dangerous, and rapidly deteriorating supply chain will be more costly every day as Crimean becomes more and more isolated. You want the Russians there as long as possible until support and resupply become impossible and they have no choice but to leave.

It's the perfect place to do harassment operations and stuff like photo op flag waving to stress those supply lines to the maximum extent possible.

The photo op in Kinburn Spit isn't any sort of serious landing or military operation, but it also isn't ill-considered or rash either. That spit is at the very end of a long, fragile, and rapidly deteriorating supply line.

Bernie Sanders is too smart and too seasoned to fall for obvious Kremlin propaganda. The current wave of younger US socialists, while well-intentioned, are largely not.

I quit as a dues-paying DSA member solely because they mindlessly spout Kremlin talking points verbatim regarding the Russian invasion of Ukraine and its causes. I can link you to the official position paper that prompted me to do that or you can do your own research.

I'll never understand the socialist left's long-term infatuation with the worst autocrats and war criminals like Putin just because they are anti-Western. I think it's analogous to the hard right's adolescent edgelording with Nazi tats and Confederate flags just to be outrageous.

As a life-long lefty it pains me to say it, but there are almost as many total idiots on the left as there are on the right. The tankies are proof positive of that.

You'd assume that any thinking DSA member would be given pause when they realize that DSA and Trump substantially align on a major foreign policy issue. And I think that is indeed the case, but it also illustrates how many DSA members aren't thinking at all.

That bypass road won't work when the channel fills in the wet season, and the bridge wasn't built there just for fun.

I had the exact same thought upon seeing that photo. Six hits, all right where the shadows from the pillars are.

*points towards Kerch bridge* Russia's right over there, return. Please, while the bridge is still there.

It's bizarre and disconcerting as a leftist to see how easily the credulous tankie left can be hoodwinked into supporting Putin and the join forces with the worst, most extreme and dangerous extreme right wing and most fascist regime on Earth. DSA war criminal lovefest is insane.

That's a near-perfect visual metaphor for the entire Russian state.

NYT were reporting "over 40" yesterday. It surprised me, I guess they had sources.
