It makes it harder for me to think, to hear and understand people when they speak to me, and over time it literally makes me tired, just mentally and emotionally exhausted. And really, I don't think most people are paying any attention to it. If it wasn't there, they wouldn't even notice.

In addition to sensory sensitivity to sound, I also have stuck sound syndrome. Both of these make noisy public places, particularly those with music, miserable, but the SSS means that even when I leave, the misery goes with me. I wish we didn't insist on music in every public place. 1/2

I'm aphantasic. My mental imagery is dim, amorphous, colorless, and fleeting at best. Instead of imagining in pictures, I use descriptions or inner dialogue. I still have a very active imagination and interior life. I spend a lot of time in my own world, I just can't see it.

This really speaks to me right now. I'm 51 years old. I just had my assessment this last Monday. It's hard to articulate how important it is to me to understand my life and my struggles and to be SEEN. Even if there's nothing anyone can do about it.

I used to raise and release dozens of monarchs every year. I'm more casual about it these days. Here is the only one I raised and released this year. A beautiful boy. He flew on September 8th.

It was indeed a long, intense day today, but I did what I needed to do. I had support from my husband, and I have tomorrow to rest. I'm glad I got this done. So, now we'll see what the future holds. I know this is vague. But I guess the broader take away is, get help if you can. Don't give up.

Tomorrow, the 28th, is going to be a long and intense day. I'm doing my best to follow through on the course that my mental health journey has taken this year, to do what I feel needs to be done to make a path into the future, to get the help I need, and to be self aware and authentic.
