...and then a few hours later as I was wrapping up my visit, I took a swing through one last small-ish room with works by Jean McEwen, including a series of these watercolor diptychs. I'm still not entirely sure what it was about them, but I fucking wept. Stayed in that room for like half an hour.

nice little before & after from work today. I figured once I got the top off it would probably realign okay, but my god, this is beyond expectation

A sad, broken violin. There is a large crack on the top plate running from the bottom of the instrument to the f-hole, then continuing from the top of the f-hole nearly all the way to the top shoulder. The sides of the crack are offset, with large gaps between the two sides in some places.

The top plate of the same violin, removed from the body, with the cracks glued so well together and flush that they are nearly invisible.
