Friday is a fantastic DM who provides a welcoming and inclusive table for new players, she explains the rules and is very patient with her players. She is fantastic at being able to create a great environment with interesting and well thought out NPCs. She is able to balance out combat and make it flow very well. She warns you right off the bat if something is super dangerous and what to expect for player agency above table! Such an immersive experience with music and great maps as well! We had a lot of laughs and I enjoy playing with her. 10/10 would recommend!

Rosalyn was a square faced woman with impeccable cheeks and a lips pulled so ever slightly upward about something optimistic. Her hair wasn't particularly shined or oiled, she was a working woman after all. It even gave hints of the hasty upkeep of late, the sides a bit uneven in its trim. The damned woman probably cut it herself in the mirror.

The way she stood since the danger had appeared, it was tense and ready. Vigorously aware. Prepared for violence; yet she was able to keep such a casual way in address. It was as though Rosalyn wanted to serve her the peace of mind. She was so casual about all of this.

Warm Machine is a sweet, engaging sci fi story about robots, bodily autonomy, identity, purpose, and even love. Aimee delivers a story that is especially strong in voice! The prose is especially charming. Sterling goes on is a wonderful naive robot archetype story that might at first glance fit into the YA genre but it also deals with mature themes. I might give this to my kid when they just start reading adult level novels. This book is a wonderful way to spend a couple nights reading if you enjoy transhumanism stories. Should you pick it up, I recommend you get the PDF version for additional formatting fun in how the story is presented.

Her hair began to stand on end as a jolt ran up her spine just before she looked down to see a shadow passing over her left arm. Its cold embrace came in the shape of clawed fingers around her bicep, pinching the cloth of her tabard before its buckle-thick nails dug into her flesh.

There was no resisting the pull of the creature. Her body snapped as a bag would when picked up and slung over a shoulder, dragged from the familiarity of the ground and illumination provided by the dimming lanterns. Rosalyn sailed through the air like a rag doll, snatched up by the little girl who owned her. A ravenous smacking of its lips escaped the maw of a monster just out of sight, its shape inscrutable. The wet bog of its belly waited below, the stench of death hitting her in a wave of guttural heat. It was about to feast.

The sky wept. Adding insult to bloody damned injury was her man Phillipo in that silly hat taking his fool time getting off his ass with the umbrella. One would think he was wholly incapable of moving with any sense of purpose except to breakfast. She had overheard him talking to his favorite meal of the day more often than to his peers at the estate.

Vladisi ignored Phillipo as he called out, "I'm on my way!" and marched down the door of the inn. Its sign swung with a chill wind and rain poured from its triangular bottom. The bed of flowers beneath it was terribly over-watered. The gardener's salary would have been more useful as skipping rocks this year.

The inn hardly made much business sense for such a town that rarely had visitors, but she ordered it to be maintained for such occasions. The more travelers who stayed at the inn, the more coins would be spent in the other businesses as caravans came and went. To not have an inn was to invite people to move on as quickly as possible.

This excerpt is a visit to the Guns' berthing by Lieutenant Rochelle Alvarez, one of the new POV characters in book 2 of the Black Hole Guns series. 📚💙

Some of the Guns had noticed Rochelle and were whispering their warnings that an officer was present. Though there lay less separation between her and the enlisted folk in a Navy outfit, there was still a culture of deference aboard the ship here. Captain Bho wasn't particularly enthusiastic about enforcing any of the norms carried over from the UE military; Some parts of the culture were more habits and social mores than professional obligations. The AFA, from what she had seen, were less relaxed than they were, too.

Rochelle offered an apologetic smile. "Didn't mean to interrupt."

One of the Guns replied, "No sir. We were just having a speed cube comp."

Rochelle laughed before she realized it was not a joke. The Rubik's Cube was right there, the most obvious thing in the galaxy. She had expected arm wrestling, submission grappling, boxing, or bodybuilding. Speed cubing? Perhaps the stereotypes were all wrong.

"Sounds fun."

They stared at Rochelle with saucer eyes before gradually looking at one another. The Guns seemed to be coming to the same conclusion through cooperative brainstorming. One blurted out, "You should race Vega, sir!"
