I really hope I can get my next two newly completed novels out there for readers before the sum of AI plus the Trump administration's wild incompetence blows everything up.

Forty-three pages of outline hand-written from my latest first draft. "This is the greatest story I've ever written," I say out loud to the cat. "Too bad no one will want to read it," my brain immediately fires back. Brains, amirite?
THE END scrawled in my handwriting on the 43rd sheet of notebook paper I used to outline my latest first draft.

1 week later, I'm half done outlining my latest first draft. Difficult to resist going straight to rewriting while reading through, but the outline is too important a part of my process at this early stage to move to rewrites yet. I'm intensely excited about this story. Blurs to prevent spoilers.

Four years ago, I wrote a novel (HELL SPRING) in which a demonic sin eater takes the form of Marilyn Monroe to dupe a few 1955 small towners holed up in their local general store to escape a 100-year flood. The sin eater takes Marilyn's form because she reads the mind of a... 1/3

There's a spot under my porch that I call "The Hole." When we get heavy thunderstorms, water sometimes gets under there. To catch it early and prevent damage, I installed a water leakage detection unit from Govee. This morning, we had a bad thunderstorm. I later received the attached notice.

Unsolicited rave. Coming up on the first anniversary of buying my Freewrite Smart Typewriter. In 11 months, I have completed a first draft and rewrites on one novel and am within spitting distance of completing a first draft on a second. I've never been this productive creatively and I love it.

For those following the fallout over the AI opinion article fallout in the HWA Newsletter, they released the attached statement a couple of hours ago (via email), which my screenshot is from.
HWA Statement on the AI opinion piece in the HWA Newsletter. Reads as follows:

The Executive Leadership and Trustees on the Board of the Horror Writers Association has voted to remove Sephera Giron from her position as Trustee effective immediately.

The Horror Writers Association is committed to the promotion of Horror and Dark Fantasy literature and the broadening of intellectual and cultural horizons by way of good works in these genres. In support of this mission, the Board established a robust artificial intelligence policy, following input from all levels of membership. This policy emphasizes the organization’s sincere commitment to not only uplifting creators but also protecting a culture of labor compensation in the arts, aligning with principles that safeguard our community.

To this end, the HWA Board firmly and resoundingly rejects the opinion piece of Trustee Sephera Giron as included in the August 2026 installment of the HWA Member Newsletter in the “In the Trenches” colu

I write for a living, but my fiction is a side gig. I've had my #GetFreewrite Smart Typewriter for about 9 months now. Got a 100K Words badge from them today because that's how much I've written on it since I bought it. I've never written that much fiction in less than a year before. 🎆 🥳
