I wanted to test a website behind Cloudflare (kinda blocked in Russia) before posting that the strategy is general/working, so I picked a random domain from my proxy filter (reason note "RU CF ECH ban?") - mpv.io. For some reason it's crazy flaky, refusing connections. And then this... Dial-up fr

I think I figured out a fix (pending confirmation). I'm not sure what is causing the link downs, probably some hardware reliability issues at 10G, but I'm fine with it as long as it can recover, which it failed to do. The fail state was link up with only an IPv6 address. I present to you the fix:
Screenshot of NetworkManager GUI, editing a connection, IPv4 Settings tab, Method set to "Automatic (DHCP)", mouse hovering over the checkmarked option "Require IPv4 addressing for this connection to complete", tooltip shown "When connecting to IPv6-capable networks, allows the connection to complete if IPv4 configuration fails but IPv6 configuration succeeds.".

So. Intermittent 1 second long connectivity failures. Affects something between PC <-> switch <-> test-host. Not PC port/NIC, not test-host, these were all swapped. Probably not cables/SFP modules. There's only one problematic part left to test... Yep, failure only happens to the PC. It's software.
Screenshot of two terminals, both show outputs of a ping command. Left is ping from 192.168.1.33 to 192.168.1.34 (via switch plus WiFi AP), right is ping from 192.168.1.10 (PC) to 192.168.1.33 (via switch).

Decided to run some simple connectivity tests with cnping, and my god, what is this. Intermittent failures all around, usually for exactly one second. I don't think I've ever seen this before... Well, at least it looks like the failure has a distinct signature.

It was not in fact the motherboard port... :( Ok, the warnings are because of the WinBox itself. But what is up with all the link up and downs? This is after switching to an SFP28 port on a ConnectX-4 PCIe NIC.

(bonus) Turns out that script run stuck on "Installing" eventually failed with a network timeout. Obvious in retrospect, it timed out trying to reach the app files on another domain that is also blocked (stable.dl2.discordapp.net). So yes, it does work, I would just need more socat's, heh.

First impressions as a Gboard user is it's similar enough to switch almost seamlessly. But, there is stuff I'm missing. The hold comma for emoji (or then swipe to choose settings/one hand) I use regularly, with futo I can only have a button on the action/suggestion row, comma is always settings.
