Fun story: The Flatiron was supposed to be called the Fuller Building, for the architect George Fuller. But nobody called it that. Everyone called it the Flatiron. So when the Fuller company built their new HQ in midtown, they put “Fuller Building” on it in big letters so that wouldn’t happen again.

Pretty sure I saw Tinkerbell commuting to work this morning.
A woman seated on a metro train wearing a green top with her blonde hair up in a manner that overall suggests a slight resemblance to Tinkerbell. Her face has been blurred for privacy.

In case you haven’t seen it yet, this seems to be the answer from an interview with the screenwriter.
"We tried to get Spider-Man. That was our big push and that's who we wanted.
[Marvell were like no, no, no," screenwriter David Simkins explained following a screening in Hollywood on Friday. "We went through the whole list [of characters] and then finally I think Marvel came to us and said, 'We've got this Thor guy. Just take him and use him and do whatever you want with it. It doesn't matter to us.

I use Hazel for filing but there are always one-off files that don't fit any of my rules and pile up. So I used ChatGPT to write a script that uses a local LLM (so nothing leaves my computer) to examine and rename those files according to guidelines. I'm still refining it, but it's promising so far!
A screenshot of a spreadsheet generated by the script showing its work. There are four columns visible: original filename, processed filename, category, and reasoning, which is a short summary of the LLM's thinking about what the document is.

Reading an article in the NY Times I noticed that their curly quotes are not always using the quote character but two curly apostrophes. Elsewhere on the same page it uses the quote character. Any theories on why? (It's not always a quote-within-a-quote where I see it, but sometimes it is)

Thanks to a Trump Executive Order, the department known as USDS, which always stood for U.S. Digital Service, has been renamed U.S. DOGE Service. This means that the D in the initialism USDS now stands for an acronym. Is this the only department with a recursive acronym or initialism?
Sec. 3. DOGE Structure. (a) Reorganization and Renaming of the United States Digital Service. The United States Digital Service is hereby publicly renamed as the United States DOGE Service (USDS) and shall be established in the Executive Office

And the award for best science paper of the year goes to “Practice of neurosurgery on Saturn” www.sciencedirect.com/science/artic…
1. IntroductionWe practice Neurosurgery on SATURN in a country called « ILLU-SIONLAND ». 60 million homo sapiens sapiens who live in this countrymigrated 30 years ago from the Earth. According to anatomical data, there is no difference between terrestrial and Saturnian homo sapienssapiens. Modern medical and surgical technology has also been im-ported from Earth. The Saturnians of earthling descent of the earth-lingshave roughly kept the same way of life, society, habits, etc. theyinherited from their earthly ancestors. In our country, ILLUSIONLAND we have two health systems. Privateindependent doctors and government-employed doctors who practice inhospitals. We present two clinical cases of the practice of Neurosurgeryon SATURN. The main difference between the cases on Saturn withclinical cases on Earth is that on Sa-turn, both doctors’ and patients’clinical cases are simultaneously presented.
