It's become part of my vocabulary, but I have to be careful around American friends and family. Still, it's a great example of how language differs across English-speaking cultures, and why we shouldn't assign too much power to words.

I was taken aback. Where I come from, that word is loaded and full of hate. Here it's the opposite, usually. I soon found it's part of everyday speech. The Irish have stripped it of the power Americans give it.

My birth mother was detained and deported by ICE. A big reason why I am here. I am so thankful they didn't shoot her while capturing her. She is non-violent and has never been armed for one minute of her life. But that has never stopped ICE thugs from executing immigrants on sight . #SpeirGorm

It is mindboggling. In 10th grade I got in trouble for a fight in school, and got 2 weeks of cafeteria duty. This was just one medium sized high school in America, and the amount of food waste going in the rubbish was shameful
