Genuinely, it strikes me as odd how the game always drops the idea of revenge against Sotoa whenever one of the Usean characters seems to briefly to entertain the idea. Revenge against individual Sotoans, sure. But given all Sotoa did, you'd expect more of a hurt people hurt people thing going on.

I get the game was limited by budget and schedule and from an in-universe perspective, both sides were exhausted and broke, but it honestly strikes me as a bit of a karmic dodge how the Sotoan mainland didn't get counter-invaded like Erusea and Belka. Bombing their capital would've been cathartic.

Am I the only one who played Ace Combat 8 and didn't feel bad for those trainee Sotoan pilots you shoot down? I'm still digesting Ace Combat 8 and haven't had the time for a fresh playthrough yet, but two main thoughts: 1.) Ace Combat games are heroic power fantasies. AC8 is the least power fantasy but for that reason the most heroic. Rex genuinely feels like he lacks plot armor. 2.) Dealer is best AWACS.
