So... there is a #measles outbreak in Texas. Bones and I are at a weird age where the vaccine we got as children might not be SUPER effective, but we THINK we already remedied that? Calling the doc.... #scienceftw #vaccines

For my friends with congregations: This applies to *public* spaces in churches, hospitals, schools. ICE still needs a judicial search warrant, NOT just an arrest warrant, to enter private spaces in churches, hospitals, schools, like offices or other non-public areas, if denied access.

I made this non-traditional baked brown rice risotto and it was amazingly better than those words sound together. 😋 Unlike the recipe, did put the rice the pot a few minutes before the stock. I also have a patch of fresh oregano - super yummy. #foodsky cookieandkate.com/easy-brown-r...

It was cold and rainy over the weekend and will be near freezing tomorrow night. Today was sunny and 80. I took a longer than usual lunch and walked outside with the dogs. The sun felt amazing. Remember to take advantage of the small pleasures life offers. #southerngirl #winterdepression

Okay #foodsky ... when did light brown sugar become such a thing? When I was growing up, there was only DARK brown sugar. Now it seems hard to find. Grocers, I want the DARK brown sugar.

I've mostly failed at holiday shopping so far. I bought ONE present then almost impulse bought a chair (yes, chair) while I was out today. I did make two rolls of cookie dough for the freezer. Frantic last-minute shopping/baking/shipping is a holiday tradition I guess I'm not willing to give up.

This is the first year ever it will be just Bones and I for #Thanksgiving. Since college, we've cooked not only for ourselves but any friends who needed a place to go. Over the years, everyone has grown their own families. This year, even kiddo and god-kiddo's family are out of town.

Bones and I, chatting about some folks' views on alien life. Me: It all goes back that "God's image" thing. Bones: Pretty limited view of God. Me: It doesn't even include women. We were created from a man's rib. Bones: Yep. Women are just the McRib of the universe. Me: THANKS, BABE

As expected, the bread was a bust. Slightly better than the last batch, which was re-branded as "dog biscuits." Maybe I should master a regular loaf before trying for whole wheat? Or maybe I should stick to quick breads and let Bones continue to do "real" bread. #foodsky

Spent the day not watching the news, shopping for Thanksgiving (late - got the last fresh turkey), potting herbs, and making bread (in progress). This last two are doomed. Everyone knows Bones is the bread maker AND gardener in the family. Still feels like a good day. #myglamourouslife

I can't believe this is actually happening in Texas. I CAN believe there was immediate push-back. For context "lower income" is <$100K. Kiddo could have really used this when she went back for her degree, but I don't begrudge current undergrads this opportunity.
