I'm always astounded at just how frequently these guys post clearly gay-themed content. Maybe lighten up a little on the people who live the life openly?

Word just went around government science agencies that they are no longer allowed to use the term "Artificial Intelligence" in any proposal or paper or news release. It has to be replaced with "Super Intelligence". Not sure how actual scientists are going to react to that order.

Yeah, I'm still trying to puzzle out how that Tesla drives so slowly, upside-down, at the top of the ramp, without immediately falling to the ground. (Okay, maybe I'm not really puzzled). It seems like Elon missed an opportunity to pitch the first Spider-Car.

Remember they were convicting teenagers. "Although Dhaliwal wasn't charged until he was 18, he was 17 when he committed the crime. Prosecutors charged him as an adult but kept it in state court to allow for a deferred sentence." (Dhaliwal is a year younger than Sam Altman)

You're missing the fact that Napster was shut down, and Anthropic has a $trillion valuation based in part on the collected works of every artist on the planet. That billion dollar settlement amounts to roughly $3,000 per person for a selected subset of creators.

Yup. The current status quo, in which a set number of justices are allowed to time their own retirements in a way that they can perpetuate their own legal preferences indefinately, is simply untenable for the long-term health of a democracy.

Personal perference : (1) End lifetime tenure. (2) Create an enforceable code of ethics. (3) Let the SC be comprised of a rotating group of lower court judges.

We've already hit bottom. The Roberts SC told a convicted felon that he was not bound by any law, and could not be prosecuted, or even sentenced for the 94 felonies he was already convicted of. They cleared a path for his open extortion, self dealing and looting. And now he's killing people.

It's less plausible when they're clearly looking for an any excuse to arrest and deport her. "Did her dad lie on paperwork and claim she was born in 1982 When I believe she was clearly born in 1981?!!" This is transparent BS. No need to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one.

Considering the models are owned by third party companies like OpenAI, which are notorious for stealing all the data they can get their hands on, I'd say AI is an outsider risk, more than an insider one.

Honestly, reading the replies from so many people worried that the Democrats might /try/ to impeach Trump. You realize we have to live with him for the next two years if they don't, and the guy only ratchets to worse behavior when you tell him there will be no consequences for it.

It's really strange how upset they are about a tax you claim they'd never have to pay. They've spent over $250 million dollars campaigning to stop it.

How does it get to that point though? It's the blind-faith part of the hypothetical I object to. A cure that "nobody" understands, implies the AI doesn't understand how it works, either. How is that different from the radium fad of the 1900's?

Maybe. If I told you that "RFK Jr.'s AI agent" found the cure for cancer, would you be ready to take it? I think the default assumption in these hypotheticals is that if AI reports it "found a solution" then it must have found a real one, without deadly side effects.

Historically, "cures" that aren't understood by science are typically ineffective or deadly.

Is it possible to pass a stage 3 trial if you can't describe the mechanism by which the medicine works? I think if you scratched out "AI model" and replaced it with "local witchdoctor" the answer to his questions would be obvious.

Zelensky was well ahead of the curve in figuring out how to deal with our petulant narcissist president. He refused to grovel or surrender land for "peace", despite starting from a significantly weaker position. Trump would be dividing the spoils of Kyiv with Putin if Z had fallen into that trap.

Yeah, I really have no patience for Republicans whining anonymously behind closed doors. Never mind 30 Republicans, it would only take 4 Republican Senators and 3 Reps to block his nominees, repeal his tariffs and end his wars.
