But data centers remain “a very hot topic in Michigan,” said Erik Nordman, director of the Institute of Public Utilities at Michigan State University. “There’s a lot of investment that needs to go into the [energy] distribution system to make it more reliable, and that’s happening at a time when there’s interest in data centers and growing demand.”
