ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 01/10/2026This is actually heartening to see.. Me and many people I know have avoided USA travel on principle, but with a definite feeling of, "... Not like it will make a difference." Well. 020
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 01/10/2026This is kind of silly but surprisingly effective... When you alam goes off, swing your legs out of bed, pop up, and exclaim, "YES!! 😄" The body at that time of day is hilariously susceptible to this kind of suggestion... 130
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I have just entered the world of exercise through physio (8 months now) for two different injuries, and this is exactly my feeling. 110
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I have the same vacillation as you, but from other side with my stuff in QTrade. "Wow this platform is a janky oldschool hunk of junk!" 011
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I'm just trying to be teagalitarian! Fighting for teaqual opportunity! 010
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 28/09/2026I'm pretty sure it's a maple, yeah. We have dozens of different maples and maple adjacent species here so I just kind of assume that when there's bright starry leaves! 010
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 28/09/2026In this thread you say "almost certainly the worst solution" -- I have been convinced by Lua's goto that other gotos are themselves bad, not using them. Building a statemachine with one is joyful and natural, it's just really easy to screw something up. If it was typesafe and data safe to use it... 100
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 28/09/2026But I actually think it's a genuinely good tool for the job. It's no more confusing than a function call IMO, it just has an extremely bad rap. 200
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Lua; yes. It has strict scoping rules that prevent you from doing terrible things, and is somewhat necessary because Lua does not have a `continue` statement. My teammates hate me for it though so it's quite rare... 110
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Instead of "AI", I've started calling it "ai yai" as in "ai yai yai yai" 000
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Coalitions are one of the things I would consider a positive side effect of proportional representation 000
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 28/09/2026The sun was touching the top orange leaves of this tree, it was absolutely blazing against the grey wall, it stunned me. The photo definitely does not capture it... 230

ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Oh noooo it would have great to meet you in person! I tried getting around the whole room, but not enough time! 😭 Hopefully I bump into you at the next thing! (I was the person with the orange mowhawk thingie) 110
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Went to a VanPOP urbanism gathering tonight and met a bunch of very cool people doing very cool things, and I think there is a very serious risk of me starting to spend my free time making my city a better place! 🥹 3110
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 26/09/2026#unicycle day 19. Today's goal started as trying idling but that's apparently still a ways out for me, so goal changed to sitting firm in the saddle and letting the cycle take my weight. Holy COW is my riding ever smoother. I can actually roll around corners too! 120
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Which is worse: forgetting to put bagel mode when toasting the bagel and getting a nuclear bagel, Or accidentally putting bagel mode with the toast and getting half soggy toast? 010
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 25/09/2026So many beans! Big ol' cans, plastic bags, I think there were cereal bowls of beans. And someone put their dang stinky bowling shoes in there 010
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 25/09/2026When I record in my dream journal, I title the entry by some key element of the dream that provides "access" to the rest of the dream against fading memory. Today's: "Bowling shoes in the bean cupboard." 100
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Wow the new update to my Pixel contains some Harry Potter marketing bullshit. Putting aside all the HP "stuff", this is still terrible, I don't need my OS to become an advertisement. 030
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Sitting by the pool, reading my book club book in a sunbeam while the kids swim... This may be the last one of the year, holding on to it while it lasts! 031
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 18/09/2026Do you have some kind of personal index or repository of the interesting ones you find? Or do you just capture the video and throw it to the wind? 110
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 18/09/2026I was thinking about "lingering effects" broadly after one of your recent posts, and lo and behold 😂 The end looked like it was gonna get really sparkly, it ended too soon 😭 000
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Woaaahhhh I haven't seen one of these before! What's the way to interpret this image? 110
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 12/09/2026I love how they find each other across multiple lanes. 000
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 11/09/2026Lol yes "a man" was supposed to include "gay" 😅 Thanks for the rec! 010
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Have there been any overtly gay-lyriced top 40 hits? Was listening to some Ricky Martin on the weekend and pondering how the lyrics of his (a man) popular songs are about women (that I know of), and what the state of popular culture actually is. 110
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 10/09/2026I have a system for arranging my teas that ensures they all get equal love from me. However, I messed something up and have had my favourite tea three days in a row now. The humanity! 010
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 09/09/2026These are absolutely wonderful! Be sure to view their timeline and read the posts of each tiny cross-stitch, so many gems in there! 030
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 09/09/2026I just found this today and had to go back and view every post! I avoided liking every single one to not spam your notifs, rest assured, I like every single one!! These are so adorable and creative! You did such a good job capturing the essence of everything, I wish I could have come for the ride! 100
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 09/09/2026The other day we were at the market and my now 11yo described to us when a seagull stole her hotdog there when she was 4. Clearly a formative moment 🤣 100
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 03/09/2026I both love and hate this framing. Love it because this has so clearly been a "colonization" effort, and so I think it's valuable to consider it through that lens and to place ourselves as individuals. Hate because when I take this lens, I feel incredibly defeated. It happened so fast and openly... 010
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 03/09/2026As I always say, never argue about AI on its capabilities. It *does* do things and it *does* improve. "It's useless" is not a good reason to hate it. The structures behind it, plagiarism, energy usage etc. are all good things to hate and a person should do that! But people are usefully using it. 100
ipsquiggle @ipsquiggle.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Ugh, The Quiet Year has been on my list since forever, I really need to get it on the table.. 😭 010
