Finished King's field 3(also known as KF2 in west). Great game, you can see a lot of what would end up in Dark souls and Elden ring, already in use here

End screen of King's field 3, called King's field 2 in west due to first game in the trilogy never officially releasing outside Japan

Very glad to see Momo be back, but I dont really like that second form of hers. They had perfectly good design in Xenosaga 3, why not use that instead?

Art of Momo from Xenosaga 3. She has golden eyes pale skin and purple hair down to her shoulders. She wear a white shirt with red skirt and red beret with black leggings and red shoes

I did predict MOMO being the new blade in Xenoblade 2

Discord message from July 8th that says "you break the gem, screen goes black and you hear "I'm feeling more like combat model these days", referencing MOMOs battle line from Xenosaga 2

I subconsciously invented a cool game mechanic with ludonarrative resonance

I had a dream where I was playing a game that was very similar to Returnal and Saros, except this had this time travel thing where you could turn back time few seconds at a time. During a boss fight I somehow super charged it and went back way more. The area around me went from eldrich rain storm into just some normal place and the boss turned into an unpleasant encounter with some random guy

I'm not trying to say that the final dungeon is secretly the best part of Xenogears or anything, however: opening cutscene has this moment where this red line snakes around these hexagons, depicting the Deus system hacking into Eldridge. It's very similar to how the final dungeons are laid out

green hexagons on a blue background, with a red line snaking between them from lower right toward upper left corner

Wanted to make one of these, but with 1 game per franchise limit Undertale/Deltarune and Clair Obscur didn't quite make the cut, but those are also excellent

My 9 games, but with one game per franchise, so I will also list the other favorites from fnrachises here: Bloodborne(also shoutouts to Elden ring and Dark souls 1), Xenogears(also shoutouts to Xenoblade 3, Xenoblade 1 and Xenosaga 3), Alan Wake 2(also Control, Alan Wake 1), 1000xRESIST, Final fantasy 9(also shoutouts to Final fantasy 6, 7 and 10), Silksong(also shoutout to original Hollow knight), Signalis, Chrono cross(also shoutout to Chrono trigger), Lies of P

My favorite memes from 2025: 1: Xenoblade 2 theorem 2: Shez's bff(no homo[unless?]) 3: Beetle summon my beloved (Death howl) 4: Tal Kamar in a nutshell (Licanius book 2 Echo of things to come)

Simple graph that deposits that people who hate and who love Xenoblade 2 have equally unhinged takes about the game and things around it

And finally, here's my rough ranking of the games I played in 2025. Again, excellent year for video games, I can only hope 2026 is going to be as good

Ranking of games: 1000xResist, Clair Obscur, Silksong, Lies of P: Overture, Deltarune ch 3 and 4, Death howl, Parasite Eve, Ghost of Yotei, Terranigma, Dispatch, Verho: curse of faces, Felvidek, Labyrinth of Demon king, Mohrta, Ys 4: Dawn of Ys, Trails in the sky 1, Trails in the sky 2, Xenoblade x Definitive edition, Dead Take, Suikoden: Tears of the moon, Suikoden 1, Fire emblem Three hopes, Eclipsium, Without a dawn, Sea of stars DLC, Trails the third, Kaamos, Chained echoes, Undertale Yellow, Ys 4: Mask of the sun, Lost Odyssey, Suikoden 2

Ipa @ipavaiva.bsky.social · 31/12/2025

Death Howl Super good game, Souls style progression but with deck builder gameplay. That combo is awesome and leaves you with just wanting more boss fights by the time you are done. Ending also manages to be quite emotional, which you would not expect from this genre

Red sister & Grey sister by Mark Lawrence I'm still reading the third book, and it seems a bit better the first two. I don't find these books to be too amazing, but they are entertaining enough I suppose. Don't remember exactly when I finished either, been reading them since like september I think

Verho: curse of faces Yet another King's field like, and probably my favorite in 2025(recency bias? maybe). The story and world building is exceptional, boss fights manage to be varied and exciting despite pretty simple mechanics. I really hope the team makes another game like this

Trails the third This one is a notable step down from other two, abandoning the great world to explore and focusing on characters I dont like as much. Estelle, Joshua, Renne stuff was pretty good Do not ever suddenly kiss someone and force chocolate into their mouth, thats gross

Dispatch I wasn't really aware of this, until a friend of mine suddenly asked me if I wanna play it with him. After first hour I was hooked, and it was a great ride. Ending could have been a bit better, things get cleaned up a bit too cleanly, but it doesn't ruin otherwise good experience

Strength of the few My most anticipated release for 2025 and while I liked the first part more, this was still an excellent book. Islington just writes the exact kind of stories I like. Justice of One can't come out soon enough!

Trails in the sky 2 Fun to have a JRPG that just continues basically right from where the first one ended. Stuff between Agate and Tita was especially good. Even on normal difficulty the final bosses were very tough

Ghost of Yotei Another excellent sequel for a game I really liked. The ending was a bit weak narratively, but that's the only real gripe I had. Combat was especially good, building on the solid ground work of Tsushima

Suikoden 2 The most disappointing game I've ever seen. First ~25% of the game was the first third of an amazing JRPG, after that nothing interesting happens. I had really just bad time with most of this game

Silksong One of the best games of the year, incredible sequel to Hollow knight, which already was amazing! Difficult as hell, still can't believe I got 100% completion on this one. Waiting for the DLC eagerly and with some trepidation

Suikoden 1 Didn't have much expectations for this one, mainly just needed to see it before playing the second one, but it was a decent game. Story had couple good moments, but generally the game wasn't really my thing. Maybe a bit too ambitious for it's own good with it's multiple gameplay systems

Lunacid: Tears of the moon I love the original Lunacid, this one feels like a budget version of that in every way. Still a fun game, with fun exploration and cool world. I really hope the dev makes more Lunacid or similar stuff in the future

Fire Emblem warriors: Three hopes Shez is way better character than the fan art made me think. I also like Leonie, Hubert and Sylvain way more here. I'm not musou fan, but gameplay was still pretty fun here Week after finishing this they announced Fortune's weave, so I take full credit for that

Chained echoes I had heard a lot of good about this game, but when I finally got around to it, it was the definition of mid. It's doing things fairly competently in most ways, but characters are flat, story lacks good pacing and can people please stop stabbing themselves??

Dead Take Classic first person, horror walker with some puzzle elements. The cast is the real draw here: Ben Starr, Neil Newbon, Alanah Pearce, Matthew Mercer, Travis Willingham, Laura Bailey, Sam Lake(without finnish accent) and the absolute show stealer Jane Perry with best monologue of the year
