It’s always amusing that cis people still somehow think estrogen makes your voice more feminine and will happily tell other cis people that it does. It doesn’t, at all, by the way. We trans women gotta put work into voice training.

Without aesthetics we have no generational definition. We have no politician narratives. We have no substance to life. Life would be really boring without it. You can argue for political regimes it sucks, but nothing's perfect.

Inside those genres. You can call it functionless if you want I guess, but art is a very important thing for humans. Maybe some more than others, but a lot of humanity is driven by someone's expressions expressed in what they do.

I think you vastly underestimate how many people are influenced by art in some way. Without Venom, there's no extreme metal. Without SikTh, there's no djent as we know it today. Without Suffocation, there's no brutal death metal or deathcore. This doesn't account for other bands that started trends

I don't care what some random person has to say. I care about my own lived experiences. I don't care if it has to be directed at me. Art influences people. That's it's purpose. Often it's an extra layer to motivating people. It's always been intertwined with change.

Telling someone art is functionless when it helped one of my favorite vocalists unpack losing his friend to opiates two years after his friend lost his mother, and also helped a fan get off drugs, and another kid to start an anti-bullying campaign. Just sounds really senile to me.
