Oh, I really like this quote from the end of an article in Trails Magazine, Iss. 10. "The Last Lookouts" by Ash Czarnota.

Maybe I'm overly optimistic about lookouts like these. Despite the few circumstances when they might outperform the satellites, it's entirely possible that fire lookouts have outlasted their practical usefulness. But they have another kind of usefulness that technology will have a much harder time eroding. Fire lookouts, much like park rangers, offer a rare human connection to a government that often feels abstract and out of sight. We don't iust watch for smoke-we teach people how the land speaks and inspire them to tune in. As the chasm between humankind and nature grows, lookouts serve as a bridge and reminder of what we have to lose.

Ok, an incredibly unique game I really liked and have never seen anybody mention (did not finish it, but that's true of most things, not an indictment) is In Other Waters. You're exploring an alien ocean via a topographic map basically, and chasing the footsteps of your missing, iirc, ex lover.

there is no hulsman bike lane nor does there seem to be any on the horizon. I've only done a real quick search but in the 2026 transportation levy plans, the only mention of Marine View Drive is to "begin planning" in a broad category that does not specifically include bike lanes.
