Thanks so much to NPR/WVTF for visiting my class and interviewing my students about our class invasive species potluck! So happy for them to get to share their recipes and experiences. As usual they were very creative and made some very tasty dishes! www.wvtf.org/news/2025-12...

Students serve up delicious ways to combat spread of invasive species
To help protect native plants and animals, ecology students at Virginia Tech experimented cooking dishes that use invasive plants and animals as ingredients.

The students brought their A game again this year with a huge range of tasty invasive species dishes. They covered terrestrial and aquatic, islands and mainlands, and everything from appetizers through deserts! Be on the listen for the upcoming NPR story!

An interesting twist on the spotted lantern fly story - their honeydew is supplementing hungry bees. However, I STRONGLY disagree with the final statement that because of this we should stop managing SLF! A positive attribute doesn't counter balance their clear damage! www.wvtf.org/news/2025-10...
