Did you know fire is one of nature's most powerful planting tools? Certain trees have evolved to depend on fire to reproduce — heat melts sealed cones open, releasing seeds. It's called serotiny. Indigenous communities have understood this for generations.

For Apache people, the land has never been separate from language, song, ceremony, prayer, and traditional food. When outside programs arrive with Western science alone, they leave out the elders who stewarded these lands for generations. #ApacheNation #TribalForestry

For generations, Indigenous communities stewarded forests as a web. When that stewardship was removed, the consequences followed. Governing from an Indigenous lens isn't just cultural — it's what the land has always responded to. 🕸️ #TribalForestry #TrustResponsibility

Two NRCS programs to know: EQIP pays once for new conservation work (thinning, burning, habitat restoration). CSP pays yearly for conservation you're already doing well. Not sure which fits? That's what NRCS staff are for. 🌲

When youth connect to the land, not only do they build skills, but it empowers them to be stewards. 🌱 Whether it’s planting trees, gathering foods, or fishing, these experiences build a lasting relationship with the land and inspire the next generation to protect it.
