Fred Wood brings the arcade experience to INTERLOPER — JUNE 13! Be there 7-10pm this next Second Saturday for free play hours of “INPUT EXPRESSION”
“Input expression” is a solo exhibition by Fred Wood, presented by Interloper Gallery.

Fred Wood is a game developer born and raised in San Antonio, TX, best known for his work on LOVE and Deltarune. This show is a truncated expression of his portfolio, games that took months and years to develop, distilled down to bite sized arcade experiences, upgraded with tricks and techniques he has learned in his many adventures.

Inordinate, 2025

Inordinate is a group show featuring three artists illustrating the unquestioned normalcy of militarism within everyday life and the inordinate psychological space weapons take up in the civilian imagination. Through references to various weaponry, from small arms munitions to bombs and missiles, this show alludes to the cost, trauma and banality of it all.

Through highlighting ammunition, the exhibition creates a prism in which to parse out the differing ways militarism seeps into our collective subconscious. Where death and glory may be the superficial goal of any conflict: munitions are the seeds that warfare sows, leaving only destruction behind. Inordinate features works by Verena Gaudy and new works by Edward Perez and Mark Anthony Martinez.

Opening Reception: 7–10pm Saturday November 8.
Closing Reception: 12–6pm Saturday November 22.
Exhibition Closes: Saturday November 29.
Otherwise open by appointment.

Co-Founder Michael Martinez is curating our next exhibition!
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13th, 7—10pm • Come down to the 1906 and see our latest show at Interloper Gallery! I’m SUPER excited about this one, and very proud to be able to make space for my fellow Cultural Workers.

WE’RE IN THE INDUSTRY is a group exhibition featuring 14 local artists, who work within the cultural field. From museums and Fine Arts institutions, to the sector of education.

We live in a world that separates labor from the value of goods, services, and experiences we pay for. Across institutional galleries, emblazoned with the names of donors, you’re not supposed to see yourself within those who greet you at the front desk; or those who expertly hang grand exhibitions, create engaging designs, much less those who maintain the quality of the very facilities you step into. Further, as A.I. saturates our current era, the very act of learning is embattled against interests that seek to sanitize it; trading in wonder and curiosity, for passivity and obedience.

WE’RE IN THE INDUSTRY highlights those who show up everyday, to do their part in contributing to our collective enrichment; while still maintaining an art practice beyond the 9 to 5. Art is so much more than escapism, and it is always closer and more accessible than what you may be led to believe.

SECOND SATURDAY, 9/13, 7—10pm @ 1906 S. Flores, San Antonio, TX 78204. Hope to see you there, in support of the people who help keep our city interesting, worthwhile, and truly ours; rather than some destination for tourists.

Closing Reception, 6-9p Saturday March 29, 2025 for the group show “You don’t own ME,” curated by Mark Anthony Martinez.

“You don’t own ME” is a group show oscillating between self-portraiture as exercise and message. In this exhibition these artists offer portals into differing modes of being through a mode of making that could be considered rudimentary. Featuring artists: Alejandro Abeledo, Nicole Amri, Daryan Arcos, Frances Baca, Andy Benavides, Ashley Bueno, Sara Corley, Kaldric Deshon Dow, Rose Elizabeth, Audrya Flores, Raul Rene Gonzalez, Rafael Gutierrez, Oliver Lyric, Gabi Magaly, Mark Anthony Martinez, Michael Martinez, Symone Martinez, Wardell Picquet, Katlyn Powell, Roza Rodarte, Fred Wood and Samantha Ysaguirre. These artists respectively dive deep into the concept of the self.

some quick graphics I created to showcase the amount of artists we’ve gotten to work with since January! What could come off as a moot celebration in the midst of larger neighboring galleries— Even within our focused theme based curations, we’ve managed to host almost 50 artists 🥹😎

“You don’t own ME” is a group show featuring artists who deploy the use of their own image and likeness within their art practice. Either to illustrate a conceptual concern or simply modeling as a practical economic means to render a subject — these artists offer portals into differing modes of being. “You don’t own ME” refers to the artist’s autonomy, independent from mainstream society.
Unlike the bad faith portrayals of artists found in mainstream media — here we recognize the Artist as the authority in who they are.
Through their respective chosen media; figuration, becomes translated into examples of not just self expression but self definition. Road maps that future artists can use to traverse their own lives through the introspective exercise of self-portraiture. This exhibition serves as a reminder of who we might become should we choose to capture and illustrate our own personhood.
With this in mind, who might also need reminding of the importance of self-definition?
Featuring Artists: Alejandro Abeledo, Nicole Amri, Daryan Arcos, Frances Baca, Andy Benavides, Ashley Bueno, Sara Corley, Kaldric Deshon Dow, Rose Elizabeth, Audrya Flores, Raul Rene Gonzalez, Rafael Gutierrez, Oliver Lyric, Gabi Magaly, Mark Anthony Martinez, Michael Martinez, Symone Martinez, Wardell Picquet, Katlyn Powell, Roza Rodarte, Fred Wood, Samantha Ysaguirre
