This is a MAJOR WIN for intersex & trans people in California! The law prohibits health plans & insurers from discriminating against individuals based on sex, including intersex traits. It ensures they cannot be denied coverage for medically necessary healthcare, including gender-affirming care 💜

Dakota West was told by Kansas to give up her driver's license. She was born intersex and lived as a girl since childhood. Now, if she wanted to keep driving, she needed a license that said male. She's suing with the @aclu.org. “I’m just a girl trying to have a life like everybody else.”

When intersex young people first look for others—it’s often out of necessity. They want to feel less alone or find support through struggle. At our healing retreat, being intersex isn’t just about the hard times. It's a reminder that being intersex can make your life richer than you’d ever imagine.

The ruling gives the Supreme Court's stamp of approval to policies that intentionally discriminate against women and girls who do not conform to sex stereotypes. That should alarm anyone who claims to care about women's rights.

What would you say to someone who hasn't yet found their intersex pride? 👀 For us, pride is finding joy in existing outside of the binary. Nearly 2% of people are born with intersex traits - we're not rare, just made invisible. interACT was so honored to march and table at Capital Pride in DC! 💜💛

I didn’t know that my #intersex variation has its own awareness day. I was diagnosed with Klinefelter “syndrome” at 17 through genetic testing (karyotyping). Yes, it affects my body and metabolism, but it does not determine my cognitive abilities, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

interACT Advocates @interact.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
It marks the anniversary of the discovery of the variation! I believe 84 years now. This kind of awareness is so important. Klinefelter's can mean some physical differences but just as you said, it doesn't determine anyone's gender or life.

It's all up to each person's preference if they'd prefer to know. It can be helpful medically! When symptoms are less noticeable, people do not always know they have Klinefelter's or Kallmann's, though often differences at puberty offer indicators.

Like all intersex people, those with Klinefelter Syndrome deserve dignity, respect, and informed, consensual healthcare. What questions do you have about Klinefelter Syndrome? Drop them below!

Klinefelter Syndrome can be mosaic - where some cells are the more typical XY, and some cells that are XXY. ‌ They may have fewer noticable signs, with higher testosterone and/or fertility than others whose cells are XXY. ‌ It is also possible to have a variation with XXXY or XXXXY chromosomes!
160
interACT Advocates @interact.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
People with Klinefelter Syndrome often have low testosterone. They may choose hormone therapy to increase testosterone - or not! Fertility and speech therapies may be helpful. ‌ Klinefelter Syndrome does not define a person’s gender. Many live their lives as men, and some as women, or nonbinary.
170
interACT Advocates @interact.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
People may have lower testosterone than typical, and resulting hormonal differences like less body/facial hair. They are often tall! ‌ Many people with Klinefelter Syndrome are infertile or less fertile. Some people have speech or motor delays, learning disabilities, or health problems.

Having XXY chromosomes is a random genetic difference. While it may change someone’s body, people can live happy and fulfilling lives with Klinefelter Syndrome.

It depends how we define chimerism! Microchimerism in pregnancy is extremely common as pregnant people absorb cells from the fetus. Chimerism is more rarely caused by twin fusion or a twin absorbing the other in the uterus. Chimerism is generally considered intersex from a fusion of boy/girl twins.

Absolutely - it is rooted in misogyny and the desire to police women's bodies. They view women as inherently weaker and less capable, and so capable women are viewed as men. Trans men don't threaten this sexist perspective in the same way.
