🧮 Final Day of Calculator Crunch Four digits. One rectangle. A hidden pattern. Can you find the common factor? 👉 Take on the final challenge: buff.ly/U28kl5a #CalculatorCrunch
A maths challenge graphic titled “Marvellous multiples.” The instructions ask the reader to choose four digits that form a rectangle on a calculator keypad and write them in clockwise order, with an example given: 7854, 8547, 5478, 4785 (but not 7458). It explains that creating different rectangles will produce numbers that all share a common factor other than 1.
Three questions follow:

What can’t the common factor be?

What could the common factor be?

Find the common factor and note that it may be unexpected.

On the right is a visual of a calculator-style number pad arranged in a 3×3 grid:

Top row: 7, 8, 9
Middle row: 4, 5, 6
Bottom row: 1, 2, 3

Green arrows connect the numbers 7 → 8 → 5 → 4 → back to 7, illustrating a rectangular path on the keypad.
At the bottom, a Calculator Crunch progress bar shows Day 1 to Day 5 with Day 5 highlighted, and the MEI logo appears in the bottom-right corner. The background includes soft green and blue geometric shapes.

What a lovely group they are 😀 What's been the impact on my group? "Using manipulatives a lot more in as many topics as possible. Breaking tasks down into manageable chunks. Asking the why? How do you know? Practical activities to make lessons more accessible to all."

In my role, I get to go to lots of different places, I've seen this fountain numerous times but thought I should take a pic in the sunshine. At @SDSA, we were discussing sometimes, always, never questions from @nrichmaths.bsky.social to expose misconceptions.

In #MathsToday we did a task that creates the need for equivalent ratios. We used counters, the bottom row is where the real fun starts.
The prompt "Share 24 counters in the following ratios." and "Do any have the same answer?"
A table with 25 different ratios, the bottom row requires simplification of the ratios.
